Metalheadlines: Eff you edition

Trivium (pictured above) have a new song online. It’s called ‘Inception Of The End’ and it sounds like it’s about dreams, or something. Anyway, it’s on YouTube at this location, so feel free to not click that link.

Slash had a song with Fergie (of NWOBHM band The Black Eyed Peas) so it makes sense for Fergie to join Slash on stage. Right? Well, she did, and you can see some clips here and here. Thank me later (for ruining your day).

Speaking of former GNR members, Steve Adler was on some show talking about some of his other shows or something. I honestly didn’t pay attention, just watch the clip here and figure it yourself. I’m not your fucking father.

Dream Theater‘s John Petrucci claims he loves Mike Portnoy. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pretty open-minded and I hope they can finally get married someday. They have the same rights as us.

Rwake have a new album due in September. Is everyone releasing albums this September? Jeez. Anyway, the artwork can be seen here if you: 1. know who this band is and 2. care enough.

Has Mike Portnoy been reading Dose of Metal?

According to Blabbermouth, Mike Portnoy spoke to AOL’s Noisecreep earlier this week about his life since he left Dream Theater, the legendary band he co-founded and led for 25 years.

“The thing that breaks my heart,” stated Portnoy, “is that some of the fans rely more on what’s reported about me than what I’m actually saying at the moment. I see all these sensational headlines on certain web sites that misrepresent what I’m doing, and there are fans that react to that without knowing the real truth. I always try to offer sincere, heartfelt explanations through social media sites, and sometimes that gets lost.

Certain websites have sensational headlines that misinterpret what bands and musicians are doing? Well at least Dose of Metal have never been guilty of that *chuckle* Cough.

The Adrenaline Mob Rules

Innovative title right there. I’m a awesome, right? Anyways, Adrenaline Mob, the new band featuring ex Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy and a mob (haha) of other “well known” musicians (Russell Allen of Symphony X, Mike Orlando of Sonic Stump and Rich Ward of Stuck Mojo and Fozzy), have released a cover of Black Sabbath‘s classic track ‘The Mob Rules’.

The cover sucks. Don’t believe me, listen to it below.

Guitarist Orlando was recently interviewed by MetalSymphony.com , and you can read an excerpt of this interview below.

“This band is not in the vein of Symphony X or Dream Theater. It’s more along the lines of, say, Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Disturbed, Black Label Society, Shinedown

Source: Blabbermouth

Rob Zombie? Shinedown? Distubed? Godsmack? Oh ok, that explains why the cover’s shit then.

Mike replaces Mike?

Since two days ago, rumor has it that Mike Mangini is the new drummer for Dream Theater, but the band hasn’t confirmed it yet. The man packs quite a punch and has played some pretty significant gigs (Steve Vai, Annihilator, to mention but a few), but… I can’t imagine who, besides die-hard “take DT albums to bed and make sweet sweet love to them” fans, is interested in this anymore.

I mean, come on, all this bitchy drama queen “we know the drummer but won’t tell” attitude has long since overstayed its welcome. Dream Theater, Charlie Sheen you’re not.

Make the jump for a video of Portnoy doing his thing.
