Get admitted to the clinic

I may not know what exactly a clinic is but I’m sure it has nothing to do with the picture above. Why post a picture like that then, you may ask? Well, because I can and I needed filler text for the intro. Worked quite well, didn’t it?

So, as you already know, because you’re reading Dose of Metal daily and all you do in your free time is talk to your friends about our news posts and articles, Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Anthrax’s Frank Bello, arguably the two nicest guys of the Big Four, played a couple of bass clinics together.

But that’s not news anymore, is it? No, but the nice Dave of Megadeth and Bello are joining forces for another clinic and this time Mike Portnoy and Frank Bello’s uncle will join them. Bello’s uncle? Well, Anthrax’s Charlie Benante, you dummy. Know your metal facts!

Want more info about this particular clinic? Make the jump to see the flyer, that has all the infos you need.

Portnoyful new album

Well, well, it seems like the tweet Petrucci posted about entering the studio was about 20 hours after Portnoy tweeted something himself.

“MP, Steve Morse, Neal Morse, Dave LaRue & Casey McPherson…we begin tomorrow! The musical potential is off the charts! Very exciting….tweeted Portnoy with the enthusiasm of a child.

Read post here.

Could it be that Petrucci read it and felt the need to boast about his band as well? We’ll never know…  Glad to see Portnoy found himself a band though. Details about this so-called ‘supergroup’ still unknown.

Portnoyless new album

Dream Theater have entered the studio and surprise surprise, Mike Portnoy still not allowed back.

First day in studio and the dawn of a new era for DT. Can’t wait to get the music flowingwrote Petrucci on his Twitter.

Read post here.

When asked if leaving Dream Theater for Avenged Sevenfold is a bit like cheating on Megan Fox with Susan Boyle, Mike Portnoy had no comment.

Meet Portnoy’s replacement

Are you ready to meet Dream Theater‘s replacement for Mike Portnoy? Or rather, that should read are you ready to meet the much RUMORED replacement for Mike Portnoy?

None other than legendary drumming sensation Marco Minnemann, of Kreator and Necrophagist fame, has been strongly rumored to have joined Dream Theater.

Ifyou’re eager to find out if the news is true, you’re just going to have to keep your eyes glued to Dose of Metal and keep pressing the F5 button until we report on the situation.

Pipe Dream Theater

After getting kicked out of leaving Avenged Sevenfold, apparently Mike Portnoy tried to join his old band back. Can you guess what happened?

I reached out to the guys to try and make amends and offered to reconcile for the sake of having peace back in our lives… (plus I know how much it meant to a lot of the fans…) I figured it was still possible to try and save us, because they hadn’t made any announcements yet or begun any public activity with another drummer… but sadly, they declined my offer (well, actually their lawyer did… they didn’t even tell me themselves…) said Mike while crying.

Read full statement here.

Again with the ‘fans’ excuse. Oh well, I wouldn’t worry if I was you, Mike, reunions are IN right now and after a few years of touring without you, a label fatcat will just go to the band and say “Listen, we need a reunion tour and a reunion album ASAP. Get Portnoy on the phone!”

In the meantime, isn’t it a bit unfair how a drummer like Portnoy gets tossed around between bands but Lars Ulrich is still in one of the biggest metal bands of all time? That’s like Megan Fox being rejected by ugly men while Missy Elliot gets to bang George Clooney. Oh well…
