Metal Kino: Black Metal – A Documentary

In the last edition of Metal Kino, I’ve gone to great lenghts to explain my “morbid” interest in the Black Metal genre and the happenings around this scene. So there is no need to explain it again for this edition. If you really are interested, click the link above to read my intro to the last edition. Also, I would like to point out that I’ve made a mistake last time. The first video I’ve posted actually wasn’t taken from the documentary that I wrote about but from Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey. Shit happens. Now you know.

But anyhow, this edition, again, is all about Black Metal. Black Metal – A Documentary features interviews with members of Venom, Gorgoroth, Mortiis, Dark Funeral, Enslaved and more. For a full list, check out the tags.

Now make the jump to watch the 13-part documentary Black Metal – A Documentary.

Weak Recap: First Class

Hey, guess who’s back, it’s those regular superheroes of the Metal community, Mark and Guido. Once again, we’ll be recapping what we’ve been up to this past week (usually a combination of sleeping, eating and masturbation – we all lead interesting lives here at Dose of Metal).

So, basically it’s that time of the week when someone massages my ego, I then in turn massage their ego, then they massage my… You know what, doesn’t matter. Make the jump to see my awesome interview with the awesome Guido.

Enslaved get their cover on

The Norwegian extreme Progressive Metal monsters, Enslaved, recently played a special show on May 29 at the Henie Onstad Art Centre in Oslo.

What made the show so special, I hear you ask? And you’d be right to ask that considering my absence. Well, knowing the huge wealth of influences the band have, Enslaved were asked to provide a special setlist of covers as well as original songs. The band covered a range of artists, including Faith No More, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush and King Crimson. A band doing covers? What an original concept.

You can check out videos of their covers of Led Zeppelin‘s ‘Immigrant Song’ and King Crimson‘s ‘Red’ after the jump.

Headlines for all the children

Steven Tyler (whose daughter is pictured above because his mouth alone slows our site down tremendously) is releasing his new single via Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. Seacrest and Tyler are, of course, both on American Idol. You can listen to the song here but here’s a real test: Do you know which season of American Idol is currently airing? If you do, congratulations, you like cock.

Sandra Schleret (who?) left Elis (who?). She claims her four year journey has been… Wait, why am I even bothering? She left, they’ll get a new singer so they can make new songs no one heard of. The end.

Vreid will hit the road in North America with Kampfar and Necronomicon. It starts August 25 in Toronto and ends God-knows-when cause I seriously lost interest but hey, look at those band names. They remind of that scrambled text meme: “aocdcrnig to rseecrah at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno’t mttaer in waht oderr the lterets in a wrod are, the olny irpoamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rhgit pclae.”

Speaking of names I can’t pronounce, check out Enslaved‘s new EP here. It’s called Heimvegen (what?) and you can stream it following the link I just posted. Or you can just close this site and see what’s new on YouPorn. Your choice, really…
