Metal Kino: Black Metal – A Documentary

In the last edition of Metal Kino, I’ve gone to great lenghts to explain my “morbid” interest in the Black Metal genre and the happenings around this scene. So there is no need to explain it again for this edition. If you really are interested, click the link above to read my intro to the last edition. Also, I would like to point out that I’ve made a mistake last time. The first video I’ve posted actually wasn’t taken from the documentary that I wrote about but from Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey. Shit happens. Now you know.

But anyhow, this edition, again, is all about Black Metal. Black Metal – A Documentary features interviews with members of Venom, Gorgoroth, Mortiis, Dark Funeral, Enslaved and more. For a full list, check out the tags.

Now make the jump to watch the 13-part documentary Black Metal – A Documentary.

Blitzkritik: Mortiis – Perfectly Defect

Thanks to our wonderful editor Mark, yesterday we got to find out what’s going on with Mortiis.  Not that any of us cared, really. Besides the fact that frontman lost his goblin mask and the record label, it seems they’ve been busy releasing music for free via internet. Also, nowadays they look like they’ve spent an awful lot of time hanging out with Chilean miners.

Anyway, I was bored, it was free, and I decided to listen to it. Read on to find out if my experiment will be worth it, or will it be the musical equivalent of catching crabs.

What ever happened to: Mortiis

Last night I was thinking about high school, college and the music I used to listen to, and then I thought to myself, what the hell happened to Mortiis? Not that I listened to them/him, but I remember they used to be mentioned all the time in Metal Hammer.

For those that don’t know, Mortiis is a Norwegian Industrial band (*cough* Nine Inch Nails rip-off band) fronted by a homeless gothic goblin with an extreme case of cherubism. At least that’s the conclusion I came to from seeing photos of him.

So what happened to them? Well after 5 minutes a lot of research, I found out that the band left, or were dropped by, their label, Earache, and they’ve since released albums for free download on their website. Well, there’s a new album on their website for download now anyways. Oh how the mighty disformed have fallen.

Check out their official site here.
