Kids that like Metal

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0QuG6_FA6I

Back in March, I posted this. Basically, I was happy to see the 40-45 kids in the classroom rocking out and having fun to a great Iron Maiden track.

Anyway, for some strange bizarre reason, I’ve came across a video of my future son rocking out to Pantera! Unbelievable! Why? Because a few months back, I already knew this girl was going to be my daughter in the future.

Anyway, check out the boy going hostile!

Friday Top 10: Best Iron Maiden songs

Iron Maiden are, without question, the greatest metal band of all time.  Yes,  I said it.  If you don’t share my opinion, you fail as a metal fan and I hate you then it’s perfectly fine.   The originators of the genre, Black Sabbath, surely would have something to say about this title.  You can also throw in Judas Priest and Metallica into the mix, as well.

I’ll be honest and admit composing a top 10 Iron Maiden list was quite a challenge.  But after countless nights of no sleep and ridiculous pressure and physical abuse from the Dose of Metal crew (to deliver the absolute best 10 Iron Maiden tracks), I actually succeeding coming up with a legit list.

So, what are you waiting for?  Make the jump to view the 10 greatest Iron Maiden songs!

Interview: Silent Fall

A couple weeks back, I reviewed Silent Fall’s debut album, Otherwise.  I praised the album, insisting that this is how power metal should sound like in 2011.

Since then, I recently had an interview with their lead vocalist, Adrien Eyraud.  We discussed everything – the retirement of  Oprah Winfrey, the rising price of gasoline, politics and French prostitution.  Actually, we didn’t discuss any of that (although I wouldn’t of mind the chat about French whores).

Either way, I thought the interview went well and you can view it after the jump.

Hey! It’s time for headlines!

Today is June 6th and that means it’s ‘Internatinal Day of Slayer’, a day where dumb/redneck Slayer fans dedicated Slayer fans get heavily intoxicated, listen to Slayer all day and randomly yell “SLAYER” every 10 minutes or so.  So, uh, yeah… SLAYER!!!!

Queensryche recently just released a brand spanking new song titled, ‘Around The World’.  The track comes off their upcoming new album, ‘Dedicated To Chaos’, which will be released on June 28th.  Interesting… Queensryche still make music?  Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy them.  Operation:Mindcrime and Empire are great records.  I’m just surprised they are still around.  I’ve not heard anything new from them in ages.   As usual, you have to “like” the band on Facebook to listen to the track.

Jane’s Addiction > Nirvava.  Well, that’s what Tom Morello basically said.  Tom was inducting Jane’s Addiction into the Guitar Center RockWalk and said

Nirvana often gets credit for being the first ‘alternative’ band to break through, the band that changed music and led rock out of the hair metal wilderness of the ’80s. That’s just not true. It was Jane’s Addicton: inspiring intelligent, furiously rocking and artistically deep.”  The thing is, I don’t really care.

He’s got a point.  The thing is, I don’t really care.  Nirvana died in 1994 and the latest Jane’s Addiction song sounds like this

Opeth, one of the best live bands around, have released a handful of North American dates for their upcoming tour with Katatonia.  Not a big Katatonia fan, but that’s not stopping me from going to see Opeth live for the 4th time.  Tour dates can be found here

Cryptopsy might sound good again

Canadian death metal legends Cryptopsy did something really productive – they recently hired their old guitar player Jon Levasseur back to the band.

Jon Levasseur, former lead guitarist and major creative contributing force behind None So Vile, Whisper Supremacy, And Then You’ll Beg… has returned to the band. The combination of Jon and Chris Donaldson has revived the power and energy of the infamous Cryptopsy string section, without losing the backup vocals and creative talent of Youri Raymond whom is now playing the six string bass. Eric Langlois has, for now, decided to step back and take a break from the Cryptopsy family. The reborn and fully motivated chemistry of Matt, Chris, Youri, Jon and Flo is determined to make an impact in 2011 and beyond.”

Now they need Lord Worm back on vocals and they would be back on track.  Actually, to be fair, I don’t dislike the new vocalist like everyone else does.  He isn’t that bad.  He just needs to drop the clean vocals.  As for the rest of the band, they need to drop the core elements, stop trying to fit in with the current metal scene and get back to creating brutal death metal albums.  That’s what made them a household name in metal.  That being said, I’m praying to god their upcoming album is better than that piece of garbage, ‘The Unspoken King‘.
