Back when they were still good: Life of Agony

Before.

After.

A good metal band with hints of everything that later turned into a mediocre version of Stone Temple Pilots.  Good for you if you like what they released six years ago, it just sounds so generic and horrible to me.

Headlines! Headlines!! Headlines!!!

So here are today’s headlines, you lucky bunch.

California lolcore deathcore band Suicide Silence were recently interviewed at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. The video can be viewed here.  What did they talk about?  I have no clue.  I don’t care either way, I’m too busy eating Cadbury Mini Eggs and watching this clip over and over.

Kunvuk released their their debut, ‘Immute:Jackals‘, on September 16th/2010.  I guess no one bought it, so they decided to give the album out for FREE!  It seems like a new trend these days, where unknown bands are releasing full albums for nothing.  It makes sense, since touring is how metal bands make money these days.  Let’s hope people that will download this, will also end up at one of their shows.

Steve “Lips” Kudlow from Anvil recently admit that the band finally are making money for the first time in 30 years

What has essentially happened is that I no longer work my day job. I’m making my ends meet from the band. Am I making more? I don’t know, probably. But it’s not like I’m buying a limousine. I’m existing and not having to worry about going to a job. And that’s great; I’ve worked 30 years to get there.

Good for them.   My only issue is Lips complaining over and over in the documentary about “not making” it.  I mean, that stuff happens all the time in the business. A lot of times, good bands never get notice, ever – sometimes you get lucky.  That’s life in the metal world.  By the way, in case you missed it a few days ago, you can hear a new song from Anvil here.

As usual, Max Cavalera is hoping the original Sepultura lineup will one day reunite.  He didn’t exactly say it in those words, but it’s rather obvious he wants the reunion when you read this interview, or any Max Cavalera interview over the last ten years.

And that’s it for today, make sure you stay tuned to Dose of Metal for your daily dose of awesomeness!

Free songs for all!

Symfonia have released their debut album, ‘In Paradisum,‘ over on AOL.  I know what you guys are thinking:  Who the hell are Symfonia? Well, if you like power metal then this is a wet dream for you. This is a side project involving guys from Helloween, Sonata Arctica, Angra and Stratovarius.  The album has been released in Europe for a couple weeks now and is getting released today in North America.  Check out the album here.

Also over at AOL, Duff McKagan’s solo album, ‘The Taking,‘ is available for streaming.  You don’t care, do you?  Don’t worry, neither do I.  The album has been released today.  Click here if you want to listen.

Turn off your Job For A Cowboy or Black Dahlia Murder songs and check out a brand new Morbid Angel song from their upcoming album,  ‘Illud Divinum Insanus,‘ which hits stores June 7th.

And finally, if you are down with generic metal-core coupled with lousy clean vocals and pathetic growls, check out the new The Plot In You album. It’s called ‘First Born’ and it was released today.  Rise Records uploaded it and you can listen to it right here.

O Canada, we stand on guard for metal

Sweden, Germany, England and Finland.  Four countries that are known for releasing mega metal acts over the years.  Heck, even the U.S. have produced quality metal.  What about Canada, though?  Besides Strapping Young Lad, you don’t really hear too much Canadian metal.  So, that’s why I’m here!  To provide you with 5 awesome Canuck bands.

Make the jump to see the list.

Hanson like Slipknot

Hanson, the most hated band in 1997, released a video of themselves having some fun, jamming to ‘Wait and Bleed‘ from Slipknot.

Not really sure why I’m posting this.  I mean, clearly neither band are metal.  Both make poppy music.  Both have fruity lead singers.  And most importantly, both suck.  So, why am I posting this?  Your guess is good as mine.

Video after the jump…
