The Clown is on Facebook

Ever wondered what the Clown in Slipknot actually does? Yeah me too. Apparently he bangs the trash cans every once in a while, or something. He’s also on Facebook. Now you can go ‘like’ him and view some new Slipknot photos. I guess that’s his new job… Uploading Slipknot photos.

I haven’t seen them myself, I was too busy playing Farmville.

Weak Recap: We’re bringing sexy back

Another week behind us, another week of total metal kickassery. “But hey Simo, this week hasn’t been that special really…” – I hear some of you saying, and to clarify, when I say kickassery, I mean the way we’ve covered everything. Hell, we could comment on funerals or people sleeping and make it sound interesting as hell.

Kids, prepare your tissues and toilet paper, Mark and I are taking a trip down the memory lane, and it’s going to be sexy.

Friday Top 10: Shitty sellout songs

This week’s Friday Top 10 is all about those ridiculous ‘sell out’ songs. You know the ones; you have a band that YOU love, it’s YOUR band, and then all of a sudden, they release some bullshit single and every fucker suddenly likes them. Or sometimes bands just like to “broaden their horizons” and “explore new territories” – Read dumb their shit down for the masses or follow the current trend.

Now, I’m not looking to get into a debate about the definition of “sell out” or discuss the pros and cons of bands taking different paths, this is just a bit of fun. So make the jump, and have a laugh at some of these ridiculous songs. Or don’t, I still don’t get paid at the end of the week regardless.

Blast From The Past: Slipknot – All Hope Is Gone

Slipknot are about to start touring again, for the first time since the tragic passing of Paul Gray, and with all the talk of “Will they continue? Won’t they continue?” it seems like a perfect time to look back at their last album. I must warn you though, I will be brutally honest, and will be as harsh as I see fit. I won’t be sugar coating my opinions for the sake of being all sentimental about the band.

The format of this review, you will notice, will differ from the usual style here at Dose of Metal. I shall be taking the ‘Blitzkritik’ approach that we used to do a long time ago. Basically, I shall put the album, press play, and simply review the album in real time as I’m listening. In other words, yes I’m lazy.

Regardless, make your way over the jump for the review.

Slipknot will continue ‘with or without Corey’

I have absolutely no idea whether this is new news, old news, footage from the future, or if I’m just drunk, but I’ve stumbled across an interview with Joey Jordison in regards to Slipknot‘s future, and he sounds either in a rush, or a little bit pissed…

Joey claims that the band is ready to continue as a band, both touring and with new music, with or without frontman Corey Taylor. Hopefully without… Maybe then we can get more music like this, and less like this.
