Clown thinks his band’s live show is a church

Slipknot‘s Clown (the guy who doesn’t do anything in the band) thinks his band’s live show is kind of like a church. I agree, in a ‘we’ll take your money’ sort of way.

I desire the confidence to able to create unheard of visions within my soul and not worry about the risk of society or cultural retaliation. He creates the most horrific, insane, almost heinous at times, sexual, human images of the grotesque. I would never do it for the shock factor only for the exploration of my mind, to somehow make sanity tangible by bordering on the edge. I’m all about making art tangible, taking it from my brain and having you hold it in your hands. That is as close to god as I come. It’s the same thing with my band Slipknot, when we’re on stage, it’s church. It takes two to make church, but we have nine. It’s my religion.

Clown compares Iowa to Kubrick classic

Shawn Crahan, also known as that clown in Slipknot who does nothing, was interviewed by ArtistDirect about Iowa‘s 10th anniversary.

When asked what movie he’d compare the album to, this is what he answered:

I would say, not necessarily The Shining, but if you can imagine that child running through the maze at night with the snow falling and back-stepping his footprints to trick his father. It’s not so much the movie itself. However, think about this kid running through a maze. I guess the metaphor would be life and having forces out of control, which would be the weather. It’s deep snow coming down. It’s freezing. You’ve got to fight all of this. He’s running.

What? Maze, running, snow? WTF???

I like ‘The Shining’ as much as the next guy, but except for the mild similarities between Jack Nicholson swinging that axe and this Clown swinging his bat on stage, nothing else about Slipknot is comparable to Kubrick’s masterpiece.

Sorry.

Pretentious scale: all time high.

It’s too soon for a new Slipknot album. Pheeew!

Upon  reading confirmations of a Slipknot US tour, I was a bit scared that a new Slipknot album might be coming next. Fortunately the Clown’s statement calmed me down. Pheew-fucking-hoo, dodged that bullet.

I wanted to tell everyone straight from my mouth because you may have heard it already anyway, but SLIPKNOT will be touring by next June in America only, but that does not mean things will not change, and as they do, I will, along with others, tell you, our family, first. No album yet because it is too soon and there are no songs yet because the band needs to come together to write this next one. I cannot wait to feel the ideas like choking on color. Everything happens for a reason, so be ready.

Read Facebook post here.

I have an idea, why don’t you start writing the album? Oh wait, you can’t write an album with a barrel! ZING.

The Clown is on Facebook

Ever wondered what the Clown in Slipknot actually does? Yeah me too. Apparently he bangs the trash cans every once in a while, or something. He’s also on Facebook. Now you can go ‘like’ him and view some new Slipknot photos. I guess that’s his new job… Uploading Slipknot photos.

I haven’t seen them myself, I was too busy playing Farmville.

Slipknot’s Clown has a new project

Just a few weeks ago I was getting very excited at the news of Slipknot‘s DJ releasing his debut solo work, but forget that, because we have even bigger news now. The guy in Slipknot who dresses up as a clown, bashes a trash-can every so often and directs pretentious videos to hide the fact they’re actually rather poor, now has a new project called The Black Dots of Death. The debut album, titled as Ever Since We Were Children is set for release in March.

So mark that in your Slipknot (limited edition) diaries, with your Slipknot pens, ‘knot fans. Personally though, I haven’t heard music this bad since I was a child (perhaps the thought behind the album title?), so you may want to take my advice and not bother.

The shit I couldn’t be bothered to type up can be found at this location.
