Metalheadlines: Boring Tuesday edition

We’ve had a lot of news today, but make no mistake about it, it’s still been a shit day. So enjoy these boring headlines as there’s not much else to post right now.

Machine Head‘s Robb Flynn (pictured above) says he doesn’t time songs when he’s writing them with his band. They’re just going off the vibe. He also calls Metallica their masters.

Anthrax‘s Worship Music album has a track list, at least according to Amazon.com. Don’t forget, they also have an album cover and a release date.

Meshuggah should buy me a new keyboard, because their names are a fucking mess. Guitarist Mårten Hagström (what?) talked to some Romanian chick about their upcoming album. I didn’t really read the interview, and neither should you.

This Is Hell have entered the studio for a new album. According to their vocalist, ‘they can’t wait’ — Neither can I. I want the record out as soon as possible, because I want to stop wanting to avoid music sites in fear of having to listen to it.

Yngwie Malmsteen has such an ego, he makes Dave Mustaine look like Gandhi. Apparently he’s touring North America now, so you can check out the dates right here. Problem is, I don’t know if those are concert dates, or just McDonald’s restaurants Yngwie plans to eat at.

Phil Labonte of All That Remains is auctioning his shoes. Now, I don’t want to be mean, cause this is for charity, but who the hell would pay a few hundred bucks for used footwear? If you can answer that question, then go here and start bidding.

Rob Zombie says he doesn’t really think of music when he’s not working on it. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t think of music, ever, and he has 4 studio albums that stand behind that statement.

That’s it for now, join us next time for more boring fucking headlines.

I <3 Machine Head

Today when I was in town I blew my load. No, I didn’t see a Justin Bieber poster (he is legal right?). I blew my load on Machine Head‘s special edition of 2007’s The Blackening. I’m not entirely sure why, after all, I have had the standard album since the day of release, but fuck it, I bought it anyway.

The special edition comes with a bonus disc full of B-sides and demos that span Machine Head‘s entire career, as well as a live DVD.

The most powerful part of the DVD can be viewed above. Grab a beer and witness one of the Head‘s best performances. Try not to blow your load otherwise you’ll have messy pants to change.

Phil Demmel reviews the new Machine Head album

Machine Head have a new album, Unto the Locust, coming out in September and Phil Demmel, who totally isn’t biased (not like he’s actually in Machine Head or anything), was nice enough to give a track-by-track review of the new album.

The verdict? That it’s the most epic, most heavy and strongest Machine Head album yet, of course. At least that was my interpretation, not that I’m cynical at all.

I don’t have the time nor effort to write some of Phil’s descriptions here (and yes I’ve heard of ‘copy and paste’), so why not head over to Blabbermouth and check it out for yourself?

Video interviews for the children!

Machine Head got interviewed at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. That’s a long ass title for a festival.

Rise To Remain were interviewed above at Sonisphere. Only one question: Who the hell are they?

Malevolent Creation‘s drummer also got interviewed. By the look of the video (and the camera it was recorded with), it’s safe to assume this piece of footage is from the 60s. Part two here.

Metalheadlines

Clever title, right? Blow me. Let’s talk some headlines, yo:

Slipknot (pictured above) played their first headlining show without Paul Gray two days ago in Berlin. What’s interesting about this performance is that they got their old red suits and old masks for it. Nostalgia alert, if you ever liked them. Make the jump to see a few badly shot videos of the gig. Or don’t. See if I care.

We’ve talked before about Queensrÿche, the band that has two dots over the y, making me go to Wikipedia so I can copy it and paste it here. Their drummer, Marko Syrjälä (argh, here we go again with those dots), talked about the new album and a bunch of other stuff in this interview. Their guitarist,  Mike Wilton, also talked about the new album, but in a statement on their official site. Apparently he’s 100% behind the new record. Gee, what a surprise.

Katatonia have released a free iPhone app. It’s called ‘Katatonia’ (go figure) and you can get it here. The great thing about it is that it lists all the band’s tour dates, so you know which cities to avoid and when. Awesome.

Bruce Dickinson’s son also has a band. And that band will release their debut album in September. Gee, I wonder if who his daddy is played a part in them getting a record deal. Doubtful. In the music industry, it’s not whom you know, it’s simply about talent. Haha,  I crack myself up. Anyways, band is called Rise To Remain, album is called City Of Vultures and you can watch the video of their debut single after the jump.

Machine Head will tour Europe with Bring Me The Horizon, Devildriver and Darkest Hour later this year. In other equally interesting news, I spilled mustard on my favorite shirt today. Dates after the jump.
