Skinlab like covers
I’d love to be able to say I know who Skinlab are, and I’d love to be able to say that I care, but I don’t. Of course, I could spend two minutes on Wikipedia and then pretend like I’ve know everything, but (faux) professionalism isn’t my thing. If you do know who Skinlab are, congratulations, here’s a medal.
So anyways, the band are apparently releasing a covers EP soon called Under The Influence, a title that is almost as witty as my posts. Here’s the tracklisting for the album, courtesy of Metal Hammer. It looks about as riveting as the prospect of a Saturday night with me. I give them props for choosing Ten Ton Hammer though, as it’s a great song, and one that’s often over looked.
Nailbomb – Wasting Away
Acid Bath – Paegan Love Song
Crowbar – Planets Collide
Level – Push
Machine Head – Ten Ton Hammer
Video of the Week: Death Angel
Death Angel started in 1982, yet in the video above, which comes off their latest album ‘Relentless Retribution’ from 2009, they still look young as hell. At least, younger than all the other bands that started around that time.
Fun fact, Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda, who was a roadie for the band before joining, did his first gig with Death Angel at a concert with Megadeth, who featured Kerry King on guitars during that time. Sweet, huh?
So anyhow, the video above for ‘Truce’ was the latest music video from Death Angel so far. Check it out, it’s killer.
Metal goes acoustic: The Fifth
So in case it wasn’t painfully obvious, my last couple of “Metal goes acoustic” posts were jokes. So if you’re one of the many that thought they were lame and unfunny, you can rejoice in the fact the fifth edition will be a serious one.
This time, I’m posting an acoustic cover of Black Sabbath‘s Planet Caravan. The original was acoustic too, so there’s nothing more original than posting an acoustic cover of an already acoustic song is there? Yeah, you can tell I’m running out of ideas here. The performer however gets bonus points for his nice vocals that accompany the track. Plus the video is nice and clear, and so is the audio, so that’s a nice change from the fuzzy picture and distorted sound you get with many Youtube videos.
Footage of Slayer’s replacement’s replacement is out
We’ve already covered news of Pat O’Brien (Cannibal Corpse) replacing Gary Holt (Exodus) who was replacing Jeff Hanneman in Slayer, who was bitten by a spider.
Whay are we reposting this as news? Because we’ve got something to add: Awesome HD footage of the first show of Slayer performing with Pat (from Vienna, Austria, taken on April 7th) has been posted to YouTube. It’s fan made (meaning someone smuggled a camera to the show), but still… HD! It’s almost like 3D, except with a letter instead of a digit! So, put on your HD glasses now, and make the jump for two more videos.
Friday Top 10: Best looking guitars
That’s right people… It’s that time again… You know, where I rate instruments by their appearance and you all get pissed off.
This is the follow-up to my very popular Friday Top 10 about ugly guitars. I was supposed to write this last week, but it was April 1st so we decided to do something special for that day.
But now, without further ado, make the jump and get ready for my very biased opinions!
