August Burns Red film new video

August Burns Red have filmed a new music video for their track ‘internal cannon’ this weekend. The song will be the first single from their forthcoming album Leveler scheduled for a June 21 release.

Unfortunately you can’t actually watch the video yet, so that leaves me with very little to say and leaves you with very little to watch. So here’s a video of Lady Gaga’s new song instead, because she’s apparently oh so Metal.

Weak Recap: Yes we can, bitch!

A few months ago, I had a dream. A dream that we could recap our weeks on Sunday without falling in the blog cliche of just making a list of some of our articles. And my creativity and my egomania had sex and came up with the offspring that is The Weak Recap.

Basically we recap the week by interviewing each other. It feeds our egos and it’s letting you know how awesome we’ve been the week before.

So now it’s my turn to interview NFL legend, influential guitarist and all-around amazing metal bloger, Simo. After the jump.

Some guy thinks no one has heard of Megadeth

Some guy (Joe Principe) from some band (Rise Against) I’ve heard very little of, was recently asked in an interview whether the band had faced legal action from Dave Mustaine or Megadeth as their new album is also titled Endgame.

His response was “No, he hasn’t. You know what’s funny?! This kind of goes to show you how many people know about the Megadeth record. It’s like no one… One kid said something, ‘Hey, isn’t that a Megadeth title?’ But other than that, no one knows.”

Oh really, Joe? No one knows about Megadeth‘s latest album? Why don’t you come back and say that when Rise Against have sold 150,000 copies in the US with their album titled Endgame? Because that’s how many copies Megadeth have sold with their Endgame and I’m willing to bet that’s a lot more copies than you’ll ever sell. Perhaps it’s just that Rise Against‘s general target audience is 15 year old girls, and that’s why your fans know nothing about Megadeth. Just a hunch…

This isn’t really news, so God knows why Blabbermouth are posting it. Probably to get a rise out of their users. This does beg the question, however, why am I posting this?

14 minutes and 41 seconds of fame

What you have a chance to see right now is Vegan Black Metal Chef. Yes, this guy’s into black metal and he’s also vegan. So he combined his love for cooking and his love for makeup “brutal” “music.” Yeah, the blood he uses when he goes heavy on the corspe paint is 100% organic ketchup. Not black metal enough, because we all know black metalheads only use fresh lamb blood, but we’ll let this one slide for the lulz. The video just went over 500.000 (half a million for you slow people) views, so it’s officially viral, and trendwhores we are, we have to report on it.

I’ll be honest — I actually laughed, especially when he pulled out the knife to cut the tofu, but soon after that I lost interest. Why? Well, the clip is almost 15 minutes long, which is 13.5 minutes too long. Not that I don’t love me some black metal, and I see this picking up some followers, even though it’s just a metal (good) but very cheaper (bad) version of Epic Meal Time. Epic on the internet isn’t equal to epic in the hobbit land, which this guy clearly confused, and I honestly don’t see this working for other than one or two more episodes. But who knows, he could do guests. Celebrity Vegan Black Metal Chef with Immortal, sounds good, right? Not to mention it would also be the first time they (Immortal) would appear in a decent quality video.

Video of the week: Megadeth

Hello me, meet the real me. And one of my favorite Megadeth songs.

Both me and the real me have a problem though. We don’t really get what this song is really about. Is it about war? Is it about mental illness? Is it about the TSA? The lyrics are so ambiguous that it’s hard to put a finger on what Dave Mustaine is really saying… Either that or I’m stupid. I’d say it’s about war, but you can really argue that it’s about something else entirely. I guess we’ll never know.

But the video is pretty unintentionally funny. Dave’s facial expressions and the way he interacts with himself seem straight out of a SNL skit. A bit too much comedy for such a serious message… Or maybe he’s pulling a reverse Kubrick by using a serious song over comical footage? You just never know with this guy…

What I do know is that Dimebag invented a drink after this song. If you didn’t know that, you obviously haven’t seen Pantera’s home videos. If so, leave this site and don’t come back until you do, metal traitor.
