Machine Head threaten to ruin my birthday

When it comes to Machine Head, I’m like the girl who puts up with years of physical and emotional abuse because she knows that, deep down, he’s the same man she fell in love with during that amazing summer they shared like 20 years ago.   Because I’m still hoping for 1994 Robb Flynn to sweep me off my feet and tell me everything is going to be OK, I always try to see Machine Head when they come to my city.  So it goes without saying that I was excited to see this on Blabbermouth the other day:

San Francisco Bay Area metallers Machine Head will embark on a North American headlining tour…

Hey, they’re coming to town on my birthday!  Sweet!  Wait… what was the rest of that press release?

…with support from Suicide Silence, Darkest Hour and Rise To Remain.

Shit.  I didn’t see that coming.  Let’s see what we’re working with here (after the jump).

Something is rotten in the state of Belgium

I have no idea if this is old news, but I just stumbled on this clip, and wow, I learned something new today: Belgium has a scene! Suicide Silence frontman invited a bunch of kids to join him on stage at a recent show in Antwerp and boy did they do it. Let’s play a game: spot the most scene kid on there! My personal favorite is the kid in white t-shirt which comes in at about 0:35 in the video, and does a crab-seizure move, fucking hardcore.

Kidding aside, at least they had fun, and that’s what’s most important. Think about the little ones. Love, DoM.

Metalheadlines: Thursday edition

Well well well, another headlines post, this time even less interesting than the last one, so let’s get rollin’, shall we?

Zack Vengeance (sounds like a FPS game character) of Avenged Sevenfold (pictured above) was interviewed. If you think that’s bad, wait till you hear this: They also filmed it. So make the jump and watch the two part interview, if you’ve got nothing going on in your life.

Steelheart will release a new album in February. Who are Steelheart? I have no idea. I just wanted to include an obscure news post into this bitch.

Suicide Silence are pretty confident that they’ll outlast the Deathcore genre. At least that’s what they say in this interview. I’m pretty confident that not many people know who they are, anyway, so what’s there to ‘outlast’?

NAMM International will try to find the ‘World’s Fastest Drummer‘ at this year’s NAMM show in Nashville. I think the world’s fastest drummer also needs to have the world’s least sensitive eyes, because I just went to the official site of this contest and it’s just filled with high contrast images and bullshit animations that gave me retina hemorrhoids. Awful website.

Mountain guitarist Leslie West will probably not climb mountains anytime soon. That’s because he’s had a portion of his leg amputated due to diabetes. If you want to hear him talk about the experience, listen to his interview with Howard Stern after the jump.

All I know about Bush is that the lead singer is banging Gwen Stefani. That’s it. I don’t even know what genre their music falls into, but I’m pretty sure they have no place on a metal site. Which is exactly why I’ll report that they got a new song out. Why would we care? Cause it’s free, and if it’s one thing we love here at Dose Of Metal, is FREE STUFF. Sends us some, by the way.

You only live once, right?

Suicide Silence

Much can be said of Suicide Silence, the real question is if anything good would be among those things. Well, let’s take a quick look: deathcore therefore easy to take stabs at – check; looks meant for easy jokes – check. I mean, seriously, put a shirt on. But what about the music? Don’t look at me, I’m superficial and judge people only by their looks.

All kidding aside, I’ve heard a few things by them before and I wasn’t overtly impressed, so I had a hard time giving their new song a chance (especially because you have to “like” them on Facebook in order to do so), but boredom combined with slow internet (therefore no porn :'( ) prevailed and I clicked the button. What can I say, you only live once (which is also the name of the track… genius), and the song is actually not that bad. Well, it actually sounds like a song as opposed to a random combination of 23 breakdowns. So if you’re also bored and can’t watch porn at the moment, go here and give the song a listen.

Headlines! Headlines!! Headlines!!!

So here are today’s headlines, you lucky bunch.

California lolcore deathcore band Suicide Silence were recently interviewed at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. The video can be viewed here.  What did they talk about?  I have no clue.  I don’t care either way, I’m too busy eating Cadbury Mini Eggs and watching this clip over and over.

Kunvuk released their their debut, ‘Immute:Jackals‘, on September 16th/2010.  I guess no one bought it, so they decided to give the album out for FREE!  It seems like a new trend these days, where unknown bands are releasing full albums for nothing.  It makes sense, since touring is how metal bands make money these days.  Let’s hope people that will download this, will also end up at one of their shows.

Steve “Lips” Kudlow from Anvil recently admit that the band finally are making money for the first time in 30 years

What has essentially happened is that I no longer work my day job. I’m making my ends meet from the band. Am I making more? I don’t know, probably. But it’s not like I’m buying a limousine. I’m existing and not having to worry about going to a job. And that’s great; I’ve worked 30 years to get there.

Good for them.   My only issue is Lips complaining over and over in the documentary about “not making” it.  I mean, that stuff happens all the time in the business. A lot of times, good bands never get notice, ever – sometimes you get lucky.  That’s life in the metal world.  By the way, in case you missed it a few days ago, you can hear a new song from Anvil here.

As usual, Max Cavalera is hoping the original Sepultura lineup will one day reunite.  He didn’t exactly say it in those words, but it’s rather obvious he wants the reunion when you read this interview, or any Max Cavalera interview over the last ten years.

And that’s it for today, make sure you stay tuned to Dose of Metal for your daily dose of awesomeness!
