Dose of Sunday Roast

Some of you regular readers may remember my Dose for Sunday article I posted a few weeks back, and today I’m doing something similar, but a little different. Imagine, if you will, it’s Sunday (doesn’t take much imagination, it IS Sunday), and your dear old Grandma is coming ’round for Sunday Roast. The only problem is, she’s a deeply religious woman that thinks all Metal music is the work of the devil and she wants to listen to some crappy Christian hymns that no one below the age of 50 can tolerate. It’s time for a compromise. Slap on some Christian Metal and she will love it*

Now don’t worry, I don’t have any agenda and I’m not trying to sell you any religious views. You also won’t find any P.O.D. crap in this article. This is just all about me recommending you some decent new music to check out, all whilst slapping on some lame gimmick to make it sound more interesting than it really is. So get your Sunday dosage after the jump.

*Disclaimer – may not actually be true. But don’t worry, if it’s not, just tell her it’s your f’ing house.

Live Review: As I Lay Dying, Wolverhampton (UK) 27-11-10

Another week and I’m back from another gig. This time, it was a bit of a scene fest (unfortunately), with four Metalcore (ish) bands on the bill, at Wulfrun Hall. As I Lay Dying were headlining, with support coming from Sylosis, Heaven Shall Burn, and Suicide Silence. I’m knackered, but you know I love you guys, so I’m going to give you a review of the gig.

Read more after the jump.

As I Lay Dying on telly

If you’re sick of all the horrid trance, drum n’ bass and pop shite music that is constantly being played on the television, then you might be interested in watching this live footage of As I Lay Dying performing for Fuse TV. It’s just a shame the sound isn’t fantastic and the singing is a little off key…

Regardless, check it out after the jump.

As I Lay Dying on Zeitgeist

Truth is Scary recently conducted an interview with Christian Metalcore band, As I Lay Dying‘s bassist, Josh GilbertJosh discusses how the documentary “Zeitgeist” challenged his band’s Christian faith, questions if 9/11 was an “inside job,” and talks FEMA death camps. You can watch the interview after the jump.

Apparently after watching the film, the band questioned their own Christian beliefs, but after researching for themselves, found that Zeitgest was made up of “shoddy research”. I tried watching Zeitgeist once, but gave up the moment I realised it wasn’t German porn. The only thing it made me question, was my porn searching skillz.

As I Lay Dying fashion conscious?

Not content with just being the frontman for Christian Metalcore mob, As I Lay Dying, Tim Lambesis has started his own clothing label, called Modern Rebellion.

Why do so many Metalcore and screamo bands end up starting their own clothing labels? Is it because, like the genres they are a part of, their only concern is fashion? What do clothes have to do with music?

But seriously, the point of this clothing label is apparently to support non-profit charity, Trees Of Glory, an organization dedicated to providing clean water for children in Duber, Ethiopia.  Lambesis has also personally visited orphanages, which will be supported by his clothing label.

You can check out the shirts here.
