Nergal pisses off some Christians (part: 147,082)

According to Blabbermouth, The president of Poland’s public TV broadcaster TVP has requested the producer of ‘The Voice Of Poland’ to provide a detailed explanation for the recent “provocative behavior” of  Behemoth frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski, a judge on the show.

And what was so provocative, you may ask? Well, it seems Nergal made a special guest appearance during the October 1 performance by the Polish band Times New Roman (nope I haven’t heard of them either). Two members of the band turned up on stage in wheelchairs, wearing hospital pajamas and accompanied by nurses. A stage announcer informed the audience that the musicians were physically unable to play the show unless they were “healed.” At which point, Nergal appeared on stage dressed as a clergyman, wearing a sash around his neck. He then laid his hands on the heads of the musicians and “healed” them, before they continued the concert. You can watch the video above.

Braun (nope, me neither) has commented that “Nergal‘s “provocative behavior” showed a lack of respect not only for others’ religious beliefs but also for the sick and the disabled.”

Hang on, hang on. So, wait a minute. You’re saying that Nergal, a man who has undergone leukaemia treatment, and has recently beaten cancer, is “disrespectful” to the ill? Try again. As for religious beliefs, I don’t see how it is so “offensive”, but why is it that religious practitioners feel they can openly criticize things based on their “belief” (like oh I don’t know, say Nergal’s music and acts, or the theory of evolution), despite contradicting evidence, yet no one has a right to criticize religion (or in this case, Catholicism)? It’s time that people start to grow up in the 21st century. As one Blabbermouth user comments, “still stuck in the middle ages? Who cares?”

Nergal a TV judge?

Nergal, the iconic frontman of the Polish Blackened Death Metallers Behemoth has allegedly signed on to be a judge on Poland’s version of the “hit” American singing competition ‘The Voice’.

Personally, I’ve never heard of ‘The Voice’, but I’d watch a version of what sounds like a shitty American Idol/X Factor rip off in a heart beat for the novelty of seeing Nergal on commercial television. Then I’d shout “sell out” at the TV, because it’s the cool thing to do.

Blabbermouth have more on this story. I’m too busy listening to Demigod to really care.

Behemoth rehearse

Legendary Behemoths, Behemoth are back rehearsing, for the first time since Nergal’s diagnosis with Leukemia last August. It’s great to hear that the guys are back preparing to take to the stage and kill once again. You can see photos of the rehearsal over at Blabbermouth. They also have some photos of me naked, so be sure to click that link right away.

Nergal commented: “Sooo, first rehearsals after the transplant are under our belts! I didn’t want to get overexcited at first, just wanted to see how things would go, but I have to tell you… the second rehearsal we fuckin’ nailed ‘Ov Fire And The Void’, ‘Lucifer’, ‘Conquer All’ and ‘Antichristian Phenomenon’ flawlessly! One of us even asked, ‘Did we really take a year off from each other?’ Ha ha… it was good times in great company! But the biggest surprise were the songs we NEVER played live ever and planning to do on the upcoming ‘Phoenix Rising Tour’. I won’t reveal any names yet, let it be a mystery ’till we hit the stage, all right?” He added, “In other news, I started jamming out some NEW shit too… too early to give any further comments, but it sounds VERY disturbing and eerie. Can’t fuckin wait to unleash those ideas to my friends…”

That was one long ass quote, but if you’re not creaming your pants in excitement after reading it, you’re simply not Metal enough.

Interview with the ‘Metal as F*ck’ Nergal

SoundShock.com conducted an interview at Metal Hammer’s Golden God Awards with ‘Metal as F*ck’ winner, Nergal of Behemoth. You can view a video of the interview above.

Nergal discusses the possibilities of a new album, and his health improvements. It’s great to see the Behemoth frontman looking and sounding absolutely great. He truly is deserving of the ‘Metal as F*ck’ title, apart from me maybe, because I’ve never won anything in my life 🙁

Metal Hammer’s Golden God results

The UK’s Metal Hammer hosted their very “special” awards ceremony, The Golden Gods, last night. We at Dose of Metal at times have considered hosting our own awards ceremony, but ultimately we’re just not self-indulgent or pretentious enough to attempt such a feat. Actually, it’s just we’re too lazy, poor and not big enough to pull it off. Instead though, we can just look at other award ceremonies, and criticize them, which is exactly what I’m going to be doing.

Winners include Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Rob Zombie and many more. Find the complete results, plus my own little thoughts and criticism below.

* Best New Band – The Damned Things —- Meh, debut was catchy, but overall fairly mediocre.
* Metal As F*ck – Nergal (Behemoth) —- No argument here.
* Best Underground – Primordial —- Also no arguments here.
* Dimebag Darrell Shredder(s) – Gus G. (FIREWIND, OZZY OSBOURNE) —- Yeah, Gus is pretty awesome.
* Breakthrough Artist – Sabaton —- Who??
* Best UK Band – Iron Maiden —- Of course. Question though, do Iron Maiden win every year? 😛
* Best Live Band – Skindred —- Skindred? Fuck off.
* Inspiration Award – Twister Sister —- Twisted Sister? No thanks
* Best International Band – Avenged Sevenfold —- Fuck off.
* Best Album – “Absolute Dissent” by Killing Joke —- Haven’t heard it yet, so unsure on this one, but I bet there’s better.
* Event of the Year – “The Big 4” coming together for first time ever in the U.K. —- Yeah, as a UK citizen, this is awesome.
* Riff Lord(s) – Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein (DOWN) — Down are great, but there’s a lot of riff lords I guess.
* Spirit of Hammer – Diamond Head — Yeah, I guess I’m cool with this.
* Icons – Judas Priest —- Undeniably deserving of the title.
* Golden God – Rob Zombie —- Rob Zombie sucks.
