Rage no loner against the studio machine
This was bound to happen, I guess:
A translation of the interview by gunshyassassin.com quotes de la Rocha as saying the band is older and more mature. “We are working on a new album due out next year, perhaps for the northern hemisphere summer,” he said.
So, mark your calendar for southern hemisphere winter as the time you might get another 60 minute CD of Tom Morello scratching his guitar. If this is old or incorrect, then blame Gibson for posting it today, not me. And here’s a Google translation of the original interview.
Beecher reform
Another year goes by, and another band announces they will reform.
This time, it’s not a big name, not like System of a Down‘s planned comeback, but it is one you should make note of, particularly if you haven’t heard of Beecher before (and no, I’m not talking about Henry Ward Beecher).
Beecher were a unique Progressive Metal band from the UK, sounding something like if Between the Buried and Me, Sikth, and Pitchshifter had a three way orgy, and Beecher was the bastard child born from the sick love-fest. The band released two full-length albums during their career — 2003’s Breaking The Fourth Wall and 2005’s This Elegy, His Autopsy. Both albums were met with critical acclaim, but unfortunately the band split right when they were starting to make a name for themselves.
Beecher released the following statment:
“Summer 2011 sees the 10-year anniversary of the start of Beecher. We disbanded suddenly, during our most active period, playing just one ‘goodbye’ gig, at which more than 100 fans of the band were rejected at the doors of the already over-capacity venue. Having had five years of reflection time, and considering the aforementioned fact that our tenth birthday is fast approaching, we have decided to reform, playing a handful of shows over the course of 2011 — the first of which will take place on April 29th at the Star & Garter, in our hometown of Manchester. The rest are as-of-yet unconfirmed.”
An exclusive DoM translation of this statment can be found after the jump.
Dummies Hall of Fame
It doesn’t come as a surprise that none other than Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, among 10 others, like Neil Peart of Rush, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Josh Freese of A Perfect Circle, will be inducted into the Dummies Hall of Fame this year.
What an honor it must be to be inducted into this elitist Hall of Fame, next to George Costanza, Zach Braff and Vin Diesel.
You can only take a joke so far and I already took it too far after typing in the title for this article. No, it’s not called Dummies, but Drummies Hall of Fame (whoever came up with that name deserves to be inducted into the Dummies Hall of Fame though).

Jon Bon Jovi is a politician
Have you noticed a pattern in the last few post? It’s all about musicians doing stuff they probably shouldn’t. Well, Jon Bon Jovi just blew the other guys out of the water — Obama himself appointed him to a new committee designed to get “citizens, non-profits, businesses and government to work more effectively together.” More from the news article:
Bon Jovi also will serve on the new advisory council on community solutions alongside representatives from Starbucks, eBay, Gap and Amnesty International.
I’m not sure what that means, but I think it has something to do with money. Because we’ve seen Bon Jovi is great with it. Who knows, maybe this time next year you’ll look back at this news and think “Remember when Jon Bon Jovi saved the US from recession?”
Trivium “write” 17 new songs
I had to put “write” in quotation marks for obvious reasons…
The marketing tool masked as a Metal band, Trivium, have announced they have 17 songs ready for their next album. No doubt they will follow the same formula as their last few albums. I.e. “if we rip-off a riff from 20 years ago, and do our best Hetfield impressions, no one will notice and Metallica fans will love us”
Yeah doesn’t quite work like that guys…
