You should listen to Rush

In 1981, Rush released  their eighth studio album ‘Moving Pictures,’ which was hugely successful worldwide, making it the most commercially successful Rush album to date .  Flash-forward thirty years, ‘Moving Pictures’ will be released again on April 5th, this time it will have a 5.1 surround sound remix to as well as other little bonus features.

I’d say this album is perfect for you young ones that have no idea who Rush are.  What makes them so great, you ask?  Originality, constantly making great albums, accomplished musicians with one of the best drummers ever and you can’t forget Geddy Lee sounding like an old elderly woman. Those are a few reasons why Rush are a great band.  More importantly for metal, they probably have influenced this genre more than any other rock band (AC/DC fans, don’t get upset, your band is second or maybe Kiss? Whatever).

Check out Blabbermouth for a lot more information regarding this upcoming release.

Interview: Thomas Gurrath (Debauchery)

What is this, a repost? No, after interviewing Thomas in October of last year, I interviewed him again, just before the new Debauchery album ‘Germany’s Next Death Metal’ gets released.

Make the jump for the interview and never forget “Blood for the Blood God!”.

Review: Heaven Shall Burn – Invictus (CD/DVD Boxset)

It’s 2010 (Yeah I know it’s not really), the world is one year younger than it is right now, and Heaven Shall Burn are back, as good as they ever were. Released back in 2010, it is only now that I’ve finally got my hands on the band’s latest release (the snazzy limited edition boxset version too), Invictus.

The riffs are bigger than my penis, the drums louder than my penis, the vocals harsher than my penis, and the bass is more bombastic than my penis; but how does the album compare to Heaven Shall Burn’s other efforts? Is the boxset worth the extra dosh? Will it provide more pleasure than my penis? And will the lyrical content be more mature than my mature porn collection? Find out after the jump.

Video of the Week: Job for a Cowboy

Some of you might be thinking now “Hey, what’s with this Deathcore crap? We don’t want that!” but you forgot one thing and that’s: Fuck you, I’m in charge.

Excluding their name, Job for a Cowboy are a pretty great band. I really enjoyed both of their albums, which by the way feature nothing but solid Death Metal. There, I said it. Job for a Cowboy aren’t Deathcore but Death Metal. Their first demo and EP might have been Deathcore, sure, but ‘Genesis’ and ‘Ruination’ sure as hell aren’t but enough of that already.

The video above for ‘Embedded,’ was the first thing I saw and heard of this band and that’s why it left a mark on me. I actually really like the video, especially the windmilling at 0:47. Windmilling rules. Shame I can’t do that because I’m bald but at least I look sexy as heeeeell.

Dose of – Heaven Shall Burn

Who are Heaven Shall Burn? I hear you cry. Only one of the finest Metal bands to come out of Germany in recent years, combining an aggressive, yet melodic sound that succeeds in standing out from the many other Melodic Death Metal and Metalcore bands of the last decade.

Once again, here I am saving you the 5 minutes it would take to Google the band, by posting my five top songs right after the jump. And by 5 top songs, I mean 5 random songs that kick major ass, as I’m way too lazy to actually think deeply about what my 5 favorite HSB songs. Regardless, Get on it after the wall of death. By which, I mean hurry up and click “continue reading.”
