Dose of Sunday Roast

Some of you regular readers may remember my Dose for Sunday article I posted a few weeks back, and today I’m doing something similar, but a little different. Imagine, if you will, it’s Sunday (doesn’t take much imagination, it IS Sunday), and your dear old Grandma is coming ’round for Sunday Roast. The only problem is, she’s a deeply religious woman that thinks all Metal music is the work of the devil and she wants to listen to some crappy Christian hymns that no one below the age of 50 can tolerate. It’s time for a compromise. Slap on some Christian Metal and she will love it*

Now don’t worry, I don’t have any agenda and I’m not trying to sell you any religious views. You also won’t find any P.O.D. crap in this article. This is just all about me recommending you some decent new music to check out, all whilst slapping on some lame gimmick to make it sound more interesting than it really is. So get your Sunday dosage after the jump.

*Disclaimer – may not actually be true. But don’t worry, if it’s not, just tell her it’s your f’ing house.

Joey Belladonna is a solo artist first

Joey Belladonna

…A man who has yet to learn what a comb is second, and the singer for Anthrax third.

We would usually go straight to making jokes and predictions of Anthrax losing their singer for the 5th time (in the past year), but we know that since the Big Four is (still) happening, Joey is most likely to stick around for the foreseeable future. He is using the opportunity of the band being busy with side projects to schedule a few solo dates.

It is still unclear if “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” will make the set list, as requested by Scott Ian.

Joey flees the murder scene

Joey Jordison was recently spotted running from a murder scene. The murder being that of music, and the scene being a Murderdolls gig. Perhaps he had decided that enough was enough, and he could no longer sit back and partake in such awful music. Or perhaps it was just the fact that he was pissed off at “technical difficulties” – at least that’s the “reason” the band are citing…

Joey stormed off stage twice during the Bordeaux gig, with the band having to finish the song without him the second time. The “hilarious” footage (it’s not that funny actually. Want funny, watch Lostprophets trying to do a ‘wall of death’) can be seen after the jump.

Dose Of Overrated

Ever purchased an album because either your buddy, an editor from your favorite metal magazine or a few random people on a message board raved about it being so awesome, yet that certain album didn’t click with you as you imagined? Of course!  I think that has happened to all of us.  Well, here are 7 albums that fit that description perfectly, in my humble opinion.  Why 7?  Why not a top 10 list you ask?  Because today is not Friday, you silly goose.

Make the jump for the 7 most overrated albums of the 2000s.

Friday Top 10: Our best articles of 2010

Now, you’re looking at some bad ass art from Dusty Peterson up there, plastered with shameless Dose of Metal self-promotion. We already teamed up with Dusty last week for our best news posts of 2010. This week, Dusty gives you his favorite Dose of Metal articles of 2010 but I’ll just let the man himself speak:

Last week, Dose of Metal asked me what my top ten news posts on the site were. I think it went over rather well, but I think now they are just trying to feed their own egos. “Oh well that was rather nice. Tell us what else you like about us!”. Next week we’ll have “Top Ten facial features of Dose of Metal’s staff”, I’m sure.

Seriously, though, I do enjoy the site quite a bit so I am more than happy to list my top ten articles on Dose of Metal.
