Morton and Fafara sitting in a tree…

If you like collaborations between great musicians, I got news for you: This piece of news isn’t for you.

For everyone else, check this out. Devildriver singer Dez Fafara and Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton are joining forces to create a new project.

I know what you’re thinking straight away: “I want to know what bands this project ‘sounds like’!!” — Boy, are you in luck.

According to Fafara, it’s “Circus of Power meets Badmotorfinger-era Soundgarden.”
According to Morton, it’s the band Trouble that is the biggest influence.

When will this be released? No one knows, all we know is there will be 14 tracks. We also know they’re being described as being ‘killer,’ but let’s be honest, they may be biased.

New Gojira EP details

Thanks to Metal Hammer we have some more details regarding the upcoming special EP from Gojira.

The EP is going to feature a whole wealth of artists, so it’s like all your favorite porn stars involved in one awesome film. Only this is music and it won’t make people think you’re a weird pervert, but my analogy sure will make people think I’m one. Oh well…

The EP will feature none other than Devin Townsend, Randy from Lamb of God, Max Cavalera of four million bands (Soulfly etc), Anders of In Flames, and some of the dudes from Meshuggah. It’s also for charity and Greenpeace, but I don’t really care about the preachy crap, because I’m hardcore like that. If you do, however, you can get all the details from Metal Hammer.

Chris Adler isn’t a Fred Durst fan

The ever so modest Chris Adler, of Lamb of God, who just the other day educated us on how “amazing” LOG are, has blasted Fred Durst (of Limp Bizkit) in a recent interview (welcome to the bandwagon, Chris).

Chris Adler was asked by Roadrunner Records, what was the “crappiest moment in music in the last 30 years?” and responded with just two words: Fred Durst. He then went on a rant about country music, as if anyone below the age of dead cares about country anyways…

I’m going to go ahead and assume Chris hasn’t heard 50 Cent, Lady Gaga or The Black Eyed Peas then…. Or his own music for that matter, if he really thinks it’s so unique. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of Lamb of God every now and then, but unique or original, they are not.

Lamb of God are “unique”

Well, at least that’s what the drummer, Chris Adler claims in as recent interview. Perhaps he hasn’t heard the other 20 million Metal bands that have been crossing a mixture of Pantera riffs, cookie-monster inspired vocals and Hardcore influences though.

Ironically, Adler then goes on to say that there are too many copy-cat bands out there. Wow…

Could be worse though, they could be Linkin Park. Now that would suck.

Grammy nominees announced

Yesterday during the “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music Biggest Night” this year’s Grammy nominees were announced.

We all know that the Grammy’s are the be all, end all of all metal award shows, so you should definitely check out the nominees for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Metal Performance after the jump (or, if you’re smarter than I think you are, you can just read the huge list of tags beneath this post).

With past winners such as Korn, Deftones, Rage against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden, you just got to admit that the Grammy’s won lots of credibility for their Best Metal Performance category. Yeah right, what a load of shit. Make the jump anyhow because this year at least 4 of the 5 nominees are in fact metal.
