Adler lost his Appetite
Poor Steven Adler, he just can’t get a break. Not only are Axl and the remaining (former) Guns N’ Roses members not returning his phone calls, now the singer and guitarist for Adler’s Appetite have quit the band. And the worst of all, the 80s called and said they want their hair back.
Actually, this last one might be a good thing.
Down and Crowbar sitting in a tree…
So Down were joined by Crowbar bassist Patrick Bruders for a show at The Hangar in New Orleans on 11 March 2011. You’ll probably thinking… Gee, I wish I could see that.
BAM! You’re in luck. You can! The whole concert is available here. If you make the jump, you’ll see a few clips as well, cause we’re awesome like that.
If you’re wondering who made that image above. I did. It’s two crowbars and a Down cover.Pretty amazing, isn’t it? I bet you wish you were me.
Thin Lizzy might return to the studio
Legendary band Thin Lizzy are considering recording a new album. Problem is, they haven’t released anything since 1983.
“That’s the No. 1 question we’re getting from people — are we gonna record some new material? The fans seem to trust this lineup, and I don’t blame them. We’ve kind of jumped this emotional hurdle together. Ricky’s writing some fucking killer lyrics, and with the kind of talent that’s in Thin Lizzy now I think we can pull off a really cool set of tunes“ said Scott Gorham.

Sounds like Thin Lizzy is quite a talented band nowadays, huh? Not that Scott is biased or anything. Don’t get me wrong, if they want to record a new album, they should do it. I hope they know they don’t use phonographs anymore though.
When asked if he knows what Pro Tools is, Scott said “Sure, I know how to use hammers and wrenches.”
Video of the Week: Asesino
A couple of masked Mexicans, what could this be? Lucha Libre Wrestling? No, Tony Campos (vocals and bass), former bassist of Static-X, Dino Cazares (guitars), of Fear Factory, and Emilio Márquez (drummer), formerly of Possessed, form Asesino. A Deathgrind band that simply kicks ass.
Cazares used to play with Brujeria and when he left the band, he started Asesino, a band in the same vein. As in Brujeria, all members of Asesino use pseudonyms, Cazares is Asesino, as he was in Brujeria, Campos is Maldito X and Márquez is Sadístico and featured on this song is none other than El Odio… who? Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed. He’s not in the video but he sings backing vocals on the song above, ‘Regresando Odio’. Enjoy.
Review: Amon Amarth – Surtur Rising
Amon Amarth are arguably the most popular Extreme Metal band currently. They got huge over the past couple of years because of their ever quality output.
When people talk about metal bands and their albums, it’s usually the first one or two albums they released that get all the praise. That’s not the case with Amon Amarth. They just seem to get better with each release or at least public opinion (as in reviews) is that they put out high quality releases all the time. Take Metal Archives for example. Every release, except ‘Fate of Norns’ (79%), has an overall rating of over 80%.
So what’s the case with their new offering ‘Surtur Rising’? Is it as good as their previous works or even better? Is it their first crap album? Make the jump to read what I think of Amon Amarth’s ‘Surtur Rising’.
