Going retro: Here are a few music videos
Music videos are so out. That’s sort of a good thing because it means people are moving away from watching TV (and shifting to playing FarmVille, but nothing’s perfect). Well, here at Dose of Metal we decided to try and revive your interest in them by looking for the only ones best ones that have just appeared online.
Put on your vintage coats, make the jump and get reminded of the lost art of music videos with these four I dug out.
Blast from the Past: Inside Hollow – The Lazarus Pit
By now, you should have already noticed that I’m a fan of Dan Nelson and I’m proud to say that Dan is a friend of this site. You will find out more about that soon on your favorite site on the net, Dose of Metal.
Sadly, there’s not much of his work available on the net, or anywhere else for that matter. The closest thing to an album, that you can find anywhere, is Inside Hollow’s album from 2006, called ‘The Lazarus Pit.’ I’m not sure you can call it an album though. Judging from its’ lenght, I’d say it’s an EP. Check it out for yourself, because you can listen to it in its’ entirety on MySpace.
I’ve been listening to said album for the past two days, pretty much non-stop. Check out what I think of ‘The Lazarus Pit’ after the jump.
Foo Fighters still play in garages
You thought Foo Fighters were one of the biggest bands around? They are, but it seems playing in random fans’ garages isn’t beneath them. A video of the band playing in some pizza man’s garage can be viewed above.
That’s great and all, but why the fuck weren’t they playing in my garage dammit? Oh well, I’m too busy listening to Napalm Death and masturbating to care.
Reissues sell… but who’s buying?
Reissues sell… but who’s buying? Those that are interested in reading liner notes written by Metallica’s Lars Ulrich in a Megadeth album perhaps.
Yes, the arch enemies are all buddy buddy again, with Lars writing liner notes for a 25th anniversary reissue of Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying, expected to hit stores in July. I seriously can’t wait, that’s going to blow my little mind when I read it.
Apparently, Lars and Dave were always good friends, even after Dave was fired from Metallica, but as both bands got bigger (*cough* Metallica), the press really started to stir shit up (*cough* Dave), but with the whole Big Four tours going on, I guess they’ve kissed and made up now. N’aww isn’t that lovely?
As for the reissue, according to Metal Hammer, it will be available in a 2CD lift-top box, digital album, and a deluxe 5Disc+3LP box set, all including a previously unreleased 1987 concert from the band’s first world tour and new liner notes written by Mustaine and Ulrich.
Young kids and instruments
People have been asking me why I am so mean to children and insult their playing. Why? Because they are bad at their instruments and they’re advertised on YouTube, by their parents, as BEST KID DRUMMER EVER or something like that. I’m keeping it real.
People have also been asking me if I can do better than those kids. The answer is yes, I can.
Anyway, today I’m gonna post a video of a kid who’s actually good on drums, despite his age. I really think this kid has tremendous potential.
To my future victims: That’s how you play the drums. If you’re not as good as him, ask your parents not to film you.
