How many times can you cover Walk This Way?
I like ‘Walk This Way,’ I think it’s a good song. But haven’t Aerosmith done enough damage with their Run DMC cover, that gave people the okay to mix rock with hip-hop? Just how many times are we planning to cover this song?
Apparently, many many more times…
“Jedward and their quiffs show no signs of flopping. They are in talks for their biggest collaboration yet – with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler on a new version of the rockers’ 70s hit Walk This Way.“

If you don’t know who Jedward are, good. Neither do we. But the prospect of yet another silly cover of this classic song makes me puke in my mouth. Hopefully it’s just a silly rumor.
Sepultura is not reuniting, mmkay?
Sepultura frontman Derrick Green just squashed some barely-existent rumors about his band reuniting with Max Cavalera (which would mean replacing Derrick, ouch).
“That’s all they are, rumors. I mean nobody has contact with [Max] or anyone in his band. And he’s doing his own thing. The reunion, I think, is with his brother [Igor]. I’m happy to see Igor with his family again. It was 10 years that they didn’t speak. I think for the people that really wanted the reunion, there it is. They can go see them and check that out and be happy because I know that we are happy in what we’re doing and we keep pushing forward and we keep doing what we love to do and we’re always going to represent Sepultura in a positive manner because it’s truly what we believe in.“

Woah, settle down there Derrick. I know you’re not happy hearing about being replaced all the time but no need to get so defensive about it.
I’m kidding, I really think he answered that question with a lot of tact since I can name about 10 other frontmen who would have slammed the hell out of Max just to answer this question. But I do think a Cavalera-heavy Sepultura album is just a few good paychecks away.
Jasta and Wylde sitting in a tree…
There’s nothing new about the concept of Jasta releasing his songs over the interwebz as he’s done it before, but this new track is with Zakk Wylde so, check it out if you’re a fan.
Here’s some info I got from Blabbermouth because I’m way too lazy to research it myself:
“The Fearless Must Endure, a brand new solo track by Jamey Jasta, can be streamed [online]. The song, which features a guest appearance by Zakk Wylde, comes off Jasta’s solo album, simply titled Jasta, which is scheduled for release on July 26 via eOne Music. The CD will be made available in Europe one day earlier through Century Media Records.“

Devin Townsend likes to keep busy
Well, I’ve got some good news and bad news. Do you want the good news first? As we have reported countless times, Devin Townsend will be releasing ‘Deconstruction‘ and ‘Ghost‘ on June 2oth. Now the bad news? No, I’m joking – it’s more good news! Devin went on his Facebook to announce he started working on yet another new album.
EPICLOUD is the next record. Big, heavy, romantic kind of melodic stuff. Pretty, ethereal and simple. My head’s been in a new place as of the past few weeks. Been biking quite a bit and learning Lynyrd Skynyrd songs on bass. Writing lots for Epicloud….
If you enjoy quality music, then that’s obviously fantastic news to start your Monday with.

Marilyn Manson is alive (?)
Remember back in the day when Marilyn Manson made music first, shitty pseudo-philosophical commentary on celebrities and whatever second (oh, celebritarianism, remember that shit?). Well, every now and then, he decides to take a band member back (Twiggy), kick another out (Ginger) and make a song here and there. Mostly, it’s redundant, and we wish it didn’t happen (*cough* last two albums *cough*), but for one reason or another, he won’t give up. So, today, we got another tidbit of his artistic expression. Meaning, a 30 second clip of his first new song since The High End of Low. The clip is called I Am Among No One (though that is not the actual name of the song), and you try to figure out what the artist wanted to say.
And what’s it like? Well, I wish I could tell, because the clip is mostly interrupted by what I believe is Trent Reznor jacking his dick off with his laptop, while ProTools is turned on. The parts which we can hear actually sound okay-ish. The real question is, does anyone still give a shit about an okay Marilyn Manson track in 2011? In my opinion, he needs to reinvent music for anyone to care.
