Devin Townsend likes it big

Devin Townsend is currently planning the biggest show of his career, set to take place next October in London (wow, in my country? Awesome). Who knows, maybe between now and then my girlfriend might have texted me back.

This news comes after last week’s highly successful the Devin Townsend Project shows in London. Devin commented:

“So here’s the next big gig: Next October 27th, at the amazing Roundhouse in London, We’re putting on the most definitive ‘Devin‘ show to date. A culmination of my ENTIRE career with a star lineup and full supporting cast. The show is being called ‘The Retinal Circus’, (named after an old Vancouver club in the ’60s, famous for psychedelic rock shows) and will be more than just a musical performance… there will be an art exhibition, actors, Ziltoid, stilt walkers, fire breathers… you name it.”

Wait a second… art exhibition? Stilt walkers? Jeeze, I just want to go to a metal gig, have a few drinks, maybe punch a few kids and hopefully see some tits at the end of it. I don’t need any art crap thanks.

Hear the new Devin Townsend albums

Now this is more like it, although you can also hear the new In Flames album, I’d personally just skip that and listen to new albums from the Devin Townsend Project. Both Deconstruction and Ghost are out now in most of the world, and will be released in North America tomorrow.

Both CDs are now available for streaming  at AOL Music:
Deconstruction: audio stream
Ghost: audio stream

I’ve just given both a quick listen, and they sound fucking insane, which is great, because now I can pretend I’m on mushrooms without being stupid enough to take any. Read more on the albums at Blabbermouth.

Start your week with…

… a fucking SHITSTORM!

This week’s album of choice for me, is Strapping Young Lad‘s 2005 album Alien. If you want to start your week with a bang, there’s no better way than waking up to the sound of ‘Shitstorm.’ You can listen to the song below, but due to how shitty Youtube’s audio quality is, and especially with how thick and brutal the track is, I highly suggest you buy the album if you haven’t done so already.

Devin Townsend is nice

The Devin Townsend Project have released two brand new tracks from the two forthcoming albums, for you to download for free! That’s right, they won’t cost you a cent. Mad genius Devin Townsend isn’t daft though, because to get the two tracks you’ll have to do some “connect” crap with Facebook and Twitter before you get the links.

Are the two tracks any good? I have no fucking idea, because I’m just too damn lazy to go through all that to get the links. If you’re not lazy, congratulations – how’s that working out for you? But yeah, here’s the link.

Devin Townsend will release Deconstruction” and Ghost — the third and fourth in a series of albums to be made available under Devin Townsend Project moniker — on June 21 (one day earlier internationally) via InsideOut Music. I totally borrowed this from Blabbermouth BTW.

Devin Townsend likes to keep busy

Well, I’ve got some good news and bad news.  Do you want the good news first?  As we have reported countless times, Devin Townsend will be releasing ‘Deconstruction‘ and ‘Ghost‘ on June 2oth.  Now the bad news?  No, I’m joking – it’s more good news!  Devin went on his Facebook to announce he started working on yet another new album.

EPICLOUD is the next record. Big, heavy, romantic kind of melodic stuff. Pretty, ethereal and simple. My head’s been in a new place as of the past few weeks. Been biking quite a bit and learning Lynyrd Skynyrd songs on bass. Writing lots for Epicloud….

If you enjoy quality music, then that’s obviously fantastic news to start your Monday with.

Make the jump to view one of my all time favorite Devin Townsend vocal performances (just ignore the annoying drummer).
