Iron Maiden will release a book that has photos

If you ever wanted to spend money on yet another item with Iron Maiden‘s name on it, you’re in luck. They’re releasing a photographic book with photos from John McMurtrie (their official photographer). This is what their website is saying:

On Board Flight 666 charts the extraordinary journey of Iron Maiden in their specially customized Boeing 757, piloted by lead singer and airline Captain Bruce Dickinson. Traveling across 5 continents, twice around the globe to undertake two World Tours, John’s pictorial odyssey maps their progress from Ed Force One’s historic take-off in January 2008 on the groundbreaking Somewhere Back In Time Tour through to 2010/11’s The Final Frontier World Tour in support of their fifteenth and most successful chart studio album to date, The Final Frontier (August 2010) which reached No 1 in at least 28 countries.

They also give you an 18 page preview, which you can get here. They say “Warning: This is a spoiler!” near the link, as if this was the final book of Harry Potter or something, and god forbid should you find out how it ends (probably a photo of them getting off the plane or something). Relax, jeez.

Speaking of Maiden, tonight’s Top 10 will be Maiden-related, so make sure you check us out a bit later on…

Meshuggah rock Metaltown

Apparently Metaltown is actually a festival in Gothenburg, Sweden, not an actual Metal town. That’s a shame, because a pure town of Metal would kick ass. No longer would I have to wake up to the sound of my neighbour listening to Take That, then proceed to vomit, and have to listen to Amon Amarth to stop the sickness, before I leave my house to be surrounded by old farts moaning about my music.

Regardless, Meshuggah recently kicked ass as the Metaltown festival, and fan-made footage can be viewed above, which I guess you should check out. Or don’t, I still get paid at the end of the week (no, wait, no I don’t :().

More footage can be found at Blabbermouth.

Judas Priest farewell tour footage

The first load of crappy fan-shot videos of Judas Priest‘s farewell tour have made their way onto the interwebz thanks to today’s amazing technology (all this technology though, and it still hasn’t found me a girlfriend).

The footage, which is taken from Judas Priest‘s June 22, 2011 performance at the Gods Of Metal festival in Milan, Italy, can be seen both above and after the jump, because we’re just that damn awesome. Breaking The Law can be seen above. Rob Halford doesn’t sing the song, because I guess he’s tired or something huh?

More footage, as well as the setlist, can be found after the jump of doom. Or just jump if you prefer.

Hear the new Anthrax song

It’s been long enough, but finally a brand new fucking Anthrax song is available for your listening pleasure. And that can only mean the new album isn’t far off. Well September 13th kind of “not far off” which actually is fairly far off, but not in terms of Anthrax albums.

You can listen to the new Anthrax song ‘Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t’ by going to the band’s website here and entering your email address to be sent a download link. That’s right, no shitty YouTube streams, you get the real deal with Anthrax.

But if you like shitty YouTube streams, see below.

Did I download it? Of course I did. The song kicks major ass, and Belladonna’s vocals are sounding awesome. Make sure you check out the song for yourselves.

Metalheadlines: Thursday edition

Well well well, another headlines post, this time even less interesting than the last one, so let’s get rollin’, shall we?

Zack Vengeance (sounds like a FPS game character) of Avenged Sevenfold (pictured above) was interviewed. If you think that’s bad, wait till you hear this: They also filmed it. So make the jump and watch the two part interview, if you’ve got nothing going on in your life.

Steelheart will release a new album in February. Who are Steelheart? I have no idea. I just wanted to include an obscure news post into this bitch.

Suicide Silence are pretty confident that they’ll outlast the Deathcore genre. At least that’s what they say in this interview. I’m pretty confident that not many people know who they are, anyway, so what’s there to ‘outlast’?

NAMM International will try to find the ‘World’s Fastest Drummer‘ at this year’s NAMM show in Nashville. I think the world’s fastest drummer also needs to have the world’s least sensitive eyes, because I just went to the official site of this contest and it’s just filled with high contrast images and bullshit animations that gave me retina hemorrhoids. Awful website.

Mountain guitarist Leslie West will probably not climb mountains anytime soon. That’s because he’s had a portion of his leg amputated due to diabetes. If you want to hear him talk about the experience, listen to his interview with Howard Stern after the jump.

All I know about Bush is that the lead singer is banging Gwen Stefani. That’s it. I don’t even know what genre their music falls into, but I’m pretty sure they have no place on a metal site. Which is exactly why I’ll report that they got a new song out. Why would we care? Cause it’s free, and if it’s one thing we love here at Dose Of Metal, is FREE STUFF. Sends us some, by the way.
