Wish this band was real

I just love the fact that whoever made this even paid attention to the little details like the ear gauge. Courtesy of /r/metal.

Review: Whitechapel – A New Era of Corruption

Deathcore is lame, pure and simple. It’s scientific. By mixing the elements of the extreme styles of Death Metal with the gayness of Metalcore, you’re left with something that resembles a farting fish. A farting fish with a hell of a lot of stolen At The Gates riffs in the background.

However, much like the English Language in regards to grammatical rules, for every genre rule, there are at least a million exceptions, if you’re willing to look hard enough.

After hearing a song by Whitechapel earlier this year, and being rather impressed with it, it’s time to review the band’s latest album, A New Era of Corruption (released in 2010), and find out if the band can be one of these so called exceptions. Make the jump, fuckers.

Wake up, fuckers

It’s Saturday morning (at least it is in my part of the world), and I’m hoping you’re ready to tell that hangover to fuck off, and blast some modern heavy fucking metal.

This morning I was introduced to a band called Whitechapel. I had heard the name before, probably even heard some of the music, but for some reason I never bothered to really sit down and actually listen to the music, properly. So, I browsed over to Wikipedia and found my answer as to why I never checked the band out – apparently the band are categorized as ‘deathcore’, a genre I’ve just never been able to get into.

I don’t know if the song below is an anomaly, but it sure as hell doesn’t sound too much like deathcore to me. ‘Reprogrammed to Hate’ features Chino Moreno of Deftones fame, and is taken from 2010’s A New Age of Corruption.

Whitechapel announce UK tour

Fortunately Whitechapel have absolutely nothing to do with chapels, so if you’re a UK citizen, fear not, this is not an announcement of some Christian fellowship tour (hey, it is Christmas, it could happen). Unfortunately though, this is a deathcore tour. So you might have to avoid this one if you value your hearing and don’t want to witness hundreds of oily skinned, sweaty kids with straightened fringes break dancing in the middle of pits.

As always, dates and venues after the jump.
