Friday Top 10: Albums of the 90s

So, many of us here at Dose of Metal are in our mid twenties, and we grew up with Metal in the ’90s. It may not go down as the greatest decade in Metal history, but fuck it, I love the ’90s. So many damn good albums came out of that decade, and that’s the purpose of this week’s Friday Top 10.

The list is pretty simple. Two rules: Only one album per band, to keep it varied, and secondly, Metal only, and that’s it. Other than that, I just blew this list out of my ass, because I’m awesome and you should listen to me.

So what are you waiting for? Make the jump for this week’s Friday Top 10.

New Gojira EP details

Thanks to Metal Hammer we have some more details regarding the upcoming special EP from Gojira.

The EP is going to feature a whole wealth of artists, so it’s like all your favorite porn stars involved in one awesome film. Only this is music and it won’t make people think you’re a weird pervert, but my analogy sure will make people think I’m one. Oh well…

The EP will feature none other than Devin Townsend, Randy from Lamb of God, Max Cavalera of four million bands (Soulfly etc), Anders of In Flames, and some of the dudes from Meshuggah. It’s also for charity and Greenpeace, but I don’t really care about the preachy crap, because I’m hardcore like that. If you do, however, you can get all the details from Metal Hammer.

Haunted Flames

*sigh* Lame title on my part, but it’s been reported that a new supergroup consisting of members of Swedish giants In Flames and The Haunted has formed, and the band will be performing at the new Sonic Rock Circus festival, set to take place on September 30 at Klubben in Stockholm, Sweden.

The band are called The Resisitance and feature Marco Aro on vocals (ex The Haunted), Jesper Strömblad and Glenn Ljungström on guitars (ex In Flames), Alex Losbäck Holstad on bass, and Chris Barkensjö on drums.

Normally I would make some sort of joke about how mediocre In Flames and The Haunted are right now, but this band might actually turn out to be pretty good. Plus Marc Aro was a part of The Haunted way before their mediocre period.

More information as well as pictures of the band and their logo can be found at Blabbermouth.

What if In Flames opened a restaurant

Once upon a time, I wondered what it would be like if Papa Roach were chefs (it would stop them releasing terrible music at least), and now I’m wondering what it would be like if In Flames opened a restaurant…

Oh wait, I don’t need to wonder, according to Blabbermouth, Peter Iwers (bass) and Björn Gelotte (guitar) of In Flames have partnered up to start a new restaurant in their hometown, Gothenburg. Named 2112 as a tribute to Rush‘s 2112 album, the restaurant officially opened on April 21. Wow, whatever next?

Normally I’d attempt to post my own joke right about now, but one witty Blabbermouth user won me over when he enquired if the drinks will be as watered down as the band’s music. Ouch.

Talking of In Flames….

…There’s actually some In Flames news doing the rounds. If you like to think of In Flames as a good band, as opposed to being a washed up band with little purpose, you may as well go back to the previous post. Otherwise, make the jump for a third “webisode” (who coined that name BTW? It seriously sucks). I would embed it above like my previous post, but I like to pretend In Flames are still good and don’t suck, so I hide that kind of thing beneath the jump. If you do care, and missed the previous two webisodes, you can also check those out below too.
