Geezer Butler joins Dimebash 2012

Dimebag Darrell was one of the most exciting and talented metal guitarists of all time. It’s sad that we lost him in that terrible tragedy in 2004, because I think he had much more metal badassery to offer us, and instead of kicking ass on stage (maybe in a Pantera reunion), all we can do now is remember the good ol’ days when this guy was alive and showing those dubstep/nu-metal pussies how it’s done.

But I digress. Dimebash 2012 is happening, and a lot of great names are taking part. Let’s be honest, a few not-so-great names are in there, also, but Dime liked everybody, so in the spirit of Dime-goodness, I’m gonna let Serj slide.

Anyway, Geezer Butler will also be there, alongside people like Scott Ian, Tom Morello, Phil Demmel, Duff McKagan, Jerry Cantrell, Tim “Ripper” Owens, and others… Sounds pretty awesome.

Metal guitar legend “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott’s influence on the music community can never be fully estimated, but if the collection of artists and players at this year’s DimeBash 2011 is any indication, his legacy is as far-reaching and deeper than ever before. On December 14th, the world of hard rock and metal come together in a communion of thunderous songs and stories to tip its collective glass to one of the true masters of not only guitar, but music as a whole.

Show begins at 8 PM tonight, if you’re lucky enough to go there, make sure you honor Dime by drinking and enjoying metal. Getcha’ pull!

Metallica, Mustaine, Ozzy and Geezer sitting in a tree…

So the last Fillmore anniversary show had quite a lot of guests. Like we told you before, Dave was there, and apparently Geezer and Ozzy joined them on stage, also.

Aside from them, former Metallica bassists Newsted and McGovney were present, as was Bob Rock.

Dave played five songs with them: Hit The Lights, Metal Militia, Phantom Lord, Jump in the Fire and Seek and Destroy.

You can find some photos and the setlist on Blabbermouth. No point in wasting time putting those photos here since you can just do one click and BOOM: everything is there.

Iommi is hard at work

Tony Iommi is working on new material with longtime friend and band member Geezer Butler

Been a quiet week on the writing front as we are making some changes to the control room at my home studio. The idea is to tidy the whole thing up and get a bit more space as I like to play in there when I’m recording. Should be back at the writing next week.” said Tony to Metal Hammer magazine.

Full article here.

However, it’s apparently for ‘the new phase of his career’ so I don’t know what that means. Is he becoming an actor?

Ozzy is honest

Say what you will about Ozzy‘s live performance. Or ability to form a basic sentence. But he is funny, and honest, no matter whom he’s talking about.

Check out this excerpt from a recent interview, about a possibly Black Sabbath reunion.

QMI Agency: I spoke to Geezer Butler recently and he said he’d love to do one more Black Sabbath world tour.

Ozzy: I bet he would. (Laughs) Um, I’m not saying I wouldn’t do it. But not right now. I’ve got another year to finish my tour. And if I do a BLACK SABBATH tour, he’s got to promise to stop fucking moaning. Geezer, I love him. But he’s always on about something. He’s like, “Ohhhhh.” And I’m like, “Yeah, great to see you too, Geezer.”
