Grammy nominees announced

Yesterday during the “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music Biggest Night” this year’s Grammy nominees were announced.

We all know that the Grammy’s are the be all, end all of all metal award shows, so you should definitely check out the nominees for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Metal Performance after the jump (or, if you’re smarter than I think you are, you can just read the huge list of tags beneath this post).

With past winners such as Korn, Deftones, Rage against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden, you just got to admit that the Grammy’s won lots of credibility for their Best Metal Performance category. Yeah right, what a load of shit. Make the jump anyhow because this year at least 4 of the 5 nominees are in fact metal.

Alice in Chains learned their lesson

Alice in Chains

Looks like the experimental (and lame) interactive video concept for Acid Bubble, which we previously covered didn’t work too well for Alice in Chains, because they’re already out with a new video! To make matters ironic, it’s actually called Lesson Learned. We’ll just leave it at that.

Don’t be fooled though, the guys didn’t let the fact they needed a boring regular video stop them from being creative, because the newest one is made entirely using stop-motion animation. Oooooooh. Make the jump and see it for yourself but be warned, because it could be labeled NSFW. Actually, if you’re at work you probably shouldn’t be on this page anyway…

Headlines

Alice in Chains were interviewed (videos after the jump). Unfortunately, nobody asked them why their new video looks like an amateur version of Fantastic Voyage.

Slash, Jerry Cantrell and John 5 will all appear in Turn it Up! — a movie about the electric guitar, obviously showcasing how you can get famous even if you’re mediocre at it.

Annihilator release free album. ‘If you can’t fight them, join them’ said their lead singer, referring to their fans who refuse to waste money on their stuff. Get it here.

Lordi (pictured above), the band who looks like Slipknot after an acid bath, won the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ by hacking their website a few years ago. It paid off, as now they sold a whooping 1,000 copies in the United States, and those are just from dumb Lord of The Rings fans who thought it was a spin-off CD. These contests work, folks.

Alice in Chains change the face of music videos

Alice in Chains, the band named after a pedophile’s wet dream, have changed the face of music videos! Step aside, James Cameron, with your shitty 3D and ugly blue people.

Now, when I read this:

The band has introduced an interactive music video experience for the band’s song “Acid Bubble.” Produced by Spy Films, director Nick Goso created an interactive space where users manipulate their perspective and experience 360-degree environments.

My first assumption was: “Hey, pretty cool, so I get to watch the band perform or something from different perspectives, eh?”

WRONG. You see the inside of an esophagus, or something resembling internal organs, and all you do is look up, down, left or right, essentially seeing the same thing. What the fuck? This is the lamest, most deceiving description I’ve ever read about a video. Interactive my ass. Hey, if I ever wanna know what it’s like being eaten by a monster, I’ll give you guys a call.

The piece of shit video can be “experienced” here.

When asked why their video is a bad 3D rendition of the inside of a colon, Alice in Chains had absolutely no comment, cause they were busy playing Quake.
