Best of… shit you've (probably) never heard of before Vol. 4
Time for another edition of BO… SY(P)NHOB. Catchy title, eh?
You should know the deal by now but in case you don’t, I’m telling you again. Because I can. And because you’re reading anyhow. See?
So, I’m abusing my Internet super powers to tell the world about unknown bands, that I think are worth checking out. This is just the first step of my masterplan, which is to make the world more metal. A world made of metal. A sea made of steel. A sky made of iron. I have a dream.
Make the jump to make the world just a little bit better.
Interview: Freddie Wong
Freddie Wong has done a lot of things, most notably, he’s been the Guitar Hero World Champion. You might have seen this video of him playing ‘Rush – YYZ‘ on Expert.
Since then, he’s been running the ‘freddiew‘ and ‘freddiew2‘ channels on YouTube, where him and his friends make short action films that even Hollywood actors like Kevin Pollak took notice of.
But, he’s also a musician, so I thought it would be cool to interview him and run through the list of things he’s been doing.
New Darkest Hour album out in 2011
Swedish melodic death metal band Darkest Hour have a new album coming out. The title of the new album will be “The Human Romance” and can be purchased on February 22, 2011. This will be the seventh album from Darkest Hour.
Am I a fan? Not really. I do respect them. Mainly because they have worked with this man
Chimaira bassist retires
Metal is for life, not just Christmas, but for Chimaira bassist, Jim LaMarca, it’s not even for Christmas anymore. Unfortunately, just before Christmas, LaMarca has chosen to retire from the band after more than ten years, and the band will be looking for a replacement.
The band wish him the best of luck and released the following statement:
“After a decade of good times and achievements, our friend and band mate Jim LaMarca has decided to retire from Chimaira. We wish him nothing but the best as he settles in and starts a family. As for seeking a replacement… we’ll cross that bridge down the line. In the meantime, consider it ‘business as usual’ with the Chimaira you know and love. Emil Werstler [DAATH guitarist] will be handling the bass duties for the rest of the year, and we’ll see you on the road!”

The Agonist mosh Worcester
Some fan-made live footage of The Agonist performing in Worcester, Massachusetts has made its way onto the internet. I live in Worcester, but luckily not the American one. Phew that was close. In all fairness though, jokes aside, I wouldn’t mind seeing this band in action. Take a look at the picture above and see if you can guess why.
In other news, the band are also working on the follow up to 2009’s Lullabies For A Dormant Mind.
