Nergal makes first public appearance
Some brilliant news in Metal today. Metal Hammer reports that Nergal of Behemoth has made his first public appearance since his leukaemia scare. As we previously reported, the Behemoth frontman underwent a bone marrow transplant, and it seems Nergal is doing well since then.
He was seen this past Monday, February 28 at the Musicollective music school in Poland, and pictures can be found over at Facebook.
We at Dose of Metal all wish Nergal the best of luck.
Metal goes gaga
If, like me, you’re actually a closet Pop fan (I’m also a closet homosexual, but now’s not the time for that), you may just enjoy this Metalized cover of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance by a band known as Leander. I’d love to say I actually know who they are, BTW, but I don’t. In a perfect world, I’d know who Leander are, and not who Lady Gaga is, but oh well.
In other news, I’m still hoping Lady Gaga will join Anthrax.
Devildriver Beast their way into US top 50
Devildriver, my favorite Christian Metal band (because they drive devils, duh), have managed to crack the US top 50 this week, with their brand new album, Beast.
Beast is an absolute beast of an album, and has sold 11,000 copies in the US in its first week, getting to number 42 in the charts. That may not seem a lot, but I guess it is in this day and age, especially for a Metal band that isn’t Metallica, Slipknot or Iron Maiden. More information on the album can be found here.
Now if you excuse me, I’m off to unwrap my 11,000 copies of Devildriver‘s new album.
Sepultura finish another album. Without Max.
Poor old Max, he has wanted a Sepultura reunion since, like, forever, despite claiming he doesn’t need one (insert the image of me rolling my eyes – actually don’t, too ugly). Despite him mentioning the possibilities of a reunion about 452,001 times last year, it seems Sepultura have just finished recording a new album, as their current line-up. I.e. Without him.
According to Blabbermouth, 13 tracks have been recorded during the sessions, including cover versions of Ministry‘s Just One Fix and The Prodigy‘s Firestarter, both of which are likely to be available as bonus tracks on various special-edition releases. You can also expect that Firestarter cover to be absolutely awful. Well, we’ll see… Could be worse though, they could be covering U2 again *shudder*
The, as yet, untitled album is expected for release in May this year. Is Sepultura still Sepultura without Max? Well, put it this way. Sex without my girlfriend is still sex. Okay, so I haven’t quite got round to telling her yet that I’m sleeping with someone else, but the point still stands. Is the sex better or worse? Well that’s for a different discussion.
Anthrax are Lady Gaga fans?
Ok, so my title there is intentionally misleading, I must admit. Anthrax may be fans of Lady Gaga, or they may not be, but Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante certainly seems to be a fan. Ok, so if we were talking about the vocalist, it could be anyone let’s face it, but this is Charlie Benante, one of the main members and songwriters for the band.
According to Blabbermouth, Benante and his five-year-old daughter Mia attended Lady Gaga‘s concert last night (Monday, February 28) at the United Center in Charlie‘s hometown of Chicago Illinois. Benante claims Gaga gave Anthrax a big shout-out and treated his daughter like a queen, “proving again that she is a metalhead at heart!” – His words, not mine. A photo of the three, can be found after the jump.
This can only mean one thing… Lady Gaga could be Anthrax‘s next vocalist!!!11
