Get admitted to the clinic

I may not know what exactly a clinic is but I’m sure it has nothing to do with the picture above. Why post a picture like that then, you may ask? Well, because I can and I needed filler text for the intro. Worked quite well, didn’t it?

So, as you already know, because you’re reading Dose of Metal daily and all you do in your free time is talk to your friends about our news posts and articles, Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Anthrax’s Frank Bello, arguably the two nicest guys of the Big Four, played a couple of bass clinics together.

But that’s not news anymore, is it? No, but the nice Dave of Megadeth and Bello are joining forces for another clinic and this time Mike Portnoy and Frank Bello’s uncle will join them. Bello’s uncle? Well, Anthrax’s Charlie Benante, you dummy. Know your metal facts!

Want more info about this particular clinic? Make the jump to see the flyer, that has all the infos you need.

Lars Ulrich got another job

When Lars made a cameo in “Get Him To The Greek,” people kept joking about him wanting an acting career. I laughed at that preposterous assumption. But who’s laughing now?

HBO has added Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich to ‘Hemingway and Gellhorn,’ starring Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen. Ulrich will play Dutch documentarian Joris Ivens in the TV movie, which chronicles the stormy marriage between Ernest Hemingway and war correspondent Martha Gellhorn.

Haha, really? Did they think of him because of “For Whom The Bell Tolls,” the Metallica song inspired by Ernest Hemingway‘s novel of the same name? Cause the movie seems to take place around the time that novel was written. Can you imagine Robert Trujillo scoring the whole movie on bass? Wow, this sounds like Oscar material already.

Frankly, if Lars is pursuing a movie career, I have two movies I’d like to see him in. One — A full length feature adaptation of “Napster Bad.” Two — The Robocop reboot. Look at that photo above and tell me he doesn’t look like Murphy. Your move, creep.

The new Kittie album will be so awesome

Remember Kittie?  Surprisingly, they’re still around and recently completed their sixth studio album.  Morgan Lander, lead vocalist,  posted some news on the official Kittie Facebook page, which made me crack a smile.

Pretty sure we’re done writing for the new album! Fairly positive this is the most pissed-off-sounding record we have ever had!

Seriously?  Surely you can be a little more original than that, Morgan. You know what I would love?  Bands coming out saying their new albums aren’t quite as heavy as previous efforts and are calmer and less angry.  The only band I can think of that admitted their new album isn’t heavy is The Haunted (who aren’t really good anymore).

Anyway, I have no idea when the album is out.  If you’re a fan,  just click here for further information.

Weekly Dose of Metal: Be’lakor

Melodic Death Metal from Australia. If that doesn’t get you interested, I don’t know what will. Be’lakor play a very melodic and at times depressive style of Melodic Death Metal, taking obvious influences from Amon Amarth, among others.

The band started in 2004 and released two albums so far, ‘The Frail Tide’ in 2007 and ‘Stone’s Reach’ in 2009. Both albums follow a similar formula without the band repeating themselves. When I’m thinking about Melodic Death Metal, Be’lakor are one of the first bands that pop into my mind and knowing that there’s a huge list of Melo-Death bands out there, that’s a great thing.

‘Venator’ is the first song on the second album and gives you a nice introduction into Be’lakor’s style of Metal.

Iron Maiden heading for Bulgaria

There has been quite a bit of festival news today, but apart from this piece of news I’m reporting on, nothing that I give a shit about. Something about Skunk Anansie playing the UK’s Download festival (really Download? Really? Your line-up sucks more dick than a prostitute on speed ) and then some other crap I actually can’t remember.

So on with the important shit…

The Bulgarian Sonisphere will be home to the mighty Iron Maiden this year, otherwise known as the greatest Metal band ever. Bulgaria were lucky enough to get The Big Four last year, and although they won’t be getting them again this year (as to be expected), Iron Maiden are great replacement for a headlining slot.

So what happens next? Probably the usual bitching about the possible setlist. But yeah, if you’re Bulgarian, go buy a ticket already.
