GNR agree to pay late fine

We all know that Guns N’ Roses always turn up late for gigs (well, allegedly. I don’t know, because I wouldn’t go to a Guns N’ Roses gig if you paid me), so the organizers at the Rock in Rio Festival have said they will fine Axl and the band if they don’t take to the stage on time.

As fascinating as all this is, it’s not as awesome as our brilliant interview with the splendid Guns N’ Roses guitarist Bumblefoot. If you haven’t done so already, check it out here. Am I so lazy that I have to turn a new post into one about a previous interview? Yes, yes I am.

North Korea kept their promise

North Korea

North Korea, the band with the silly name, not the country with the silly leader (which I can make fun of because I’m awesome I don’t live there), kept their promise, and yesterday they released their free EP, The Basement Tapes, Vol. 1. Why am I posting this today? Because if I did it yesterday, people would just dismiss the article as a joke.

So, what’s it like? I’ll tell you what’s it like — it’s free! So go over to their download page and listen to it. If I had to be a bit more specific, I’d say it sounds like… Erm… Rock. Too generic? Well, all this guitar music sounds like noise to me and I just drank my milk and I’m ready to go to bed. All kidding aside, it’s not bad at all, so if you’re for some post-hardcore-ish hard rock, give them a chance. You can also make the jump to see a performance video for Master Plan B and the album artwork.

Video of the Week: Cult of Luna

Cult of Luna own. The song above, ‘Leave me Here,’ comes off their masterpiece ‘Salvation’.

I think, it’s hard to make a music video for Cult of Luna, whose songs are mostly way over 4 or 5 minutes long. The shortest song on ‘Salvation’ is 5:38 minutes long, while the longest song is over 12 minutes long. They somehow managed to cut the 7:15 minute long ‘Leave me Here’ to just over 4 minutes without taking too much away from the song. I do prefer the original version but this is not Weekly Dose of Metal, this is Video of the Week so just watch the god damn video.

Sybreed to release Challenger EP this April

Swiss Metallers Inbreed Sybreed have announced they have recorded a new song called “Challenger”, which will be released as part of an EP, for download on April 23 on iTunes. Three remixes from BAK XIII, Voicians and Drop (I really have no ideo who any of those are) will also come as part of the download.

This release is apparently to serve as a teaser of the kind of music the band are currently working on for the follow to 2010’s The Pulse Of Awakening. The band’s next album isn’t expected to be released until 2012, so hopefully it hits before the world ends.
