Roy Mayorga is feeling better
In case you haven’t heard, Roy Mayorga, the drummer for Stone Sour, suffered a mild stroke a few days ago. Don’t worry, he’s feeling better and he’s on his way to a full recovery, but in the meantime, a first photo of him in the hospital has surfaced. Where is it, you might ask?
On Blabbermouth, of course, next to the photos of Schwarzenegger’s illegitimate son. Click.
Napalm Death in the studio
Who’s in the mood for some noise? You are? Well, that’s good because you can now watch a 21 second video of Shane Embury laying down bass tracks for Napalm Death’s, as of yet untitled, 14th album on their Facebook page.
Am I labelling Napalm Death as noise? No, but you can’t make out anything from that studio footage at all, just that Embury’s playing something really fast. That’s some of the worst footage I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of crappy footage on Youtube.
Let’s just hope that the album is recorded in some better quality than that or else we’re getting something close to… an Anal Cunt album and who really wants that? Not me.
Cathedral announce last ever show, for reals
Legendary British Doom Metallers, Cathedral have announced their last ever show will take place in the London Forum on Saturday December 3rd, and they’re totally serious too. Don’t expect any high profile reunion/comebacks down the road, if what founding member Lee Dorian has to say is true.
“Well we’ve been doing this for over twenty-one years now and I think it’s a bit of a cop out when bands get back together. I never-say-never, but I honestly can’t see it ever happening. The music means more to us than that and it’s not as though people haven’t had enough chances to see us over the years. I would say it’s very unlikely.”

Apparently the band actually announced their retirement way back in February and I just totally missed it. Woops. But every cloud has its silver lining, and on this occasion, the silver lining is I found some new porn that the band will release a final album in 2012.
David Coverdale is loved by Amazon
Frontman of Whitesnake, David Coverdale was recently interviewed with AOL’s Noisecreep, in which he stated that he refuses to believe that people don’t purchase albums any more and only download illegally. He goes on to claim that he’s a huge fan of using itunes and Amazon.
In fact, apparently he’s such a big user of Amazon, that they recently sent him a hand-written letter to thank him for his business.
In other completely unrelated news, apparently Whitesnake‘s new album, Forevermore, sold around 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week. Hmm… Whitesnake sell 12,000 copies, frontman David Coverdale receives hand-written letter thanking him for his business. Coincidence? I’m thinking a certain someone just made a purchase of 12,000 albums from a certain band.
And in case you care about the debates between physical media vs digital, or legally downloading/buying vs illegally downloading, more information on the story can be found at Blabbermouth.
iwrestledabearonce want to start burning churches
TheworstbandIhaveheardinthelastfiveyears iwrestledabearonce are trying to convince their fans that they’re tired of being considered a “scene” band and recently finished their second album, which is supposed to be straight-up Black Metal.
We were sick of getting lumped in with ‘scene’ and ‘whatever-core’ bands, so we decided to embrace our roots and just go straight black metal on the new album. I’d say 90% of the new record is straight-up black metal, so we had to change our image to match…Because of course that’s just as important, if not more so, than the music
I’ve been entertained reading black metal fans pissed off about the news and iwrestledabearonce fans getting offended by the”new direction”. Anyone who thinks they’re changing to Black Metal needs to get a sense of humor asap! This isn’t happening. It’s clearly a publicity stunt. I have been wrong once in my life (March 7th, 1992, to be exact). However, I’m confident that was the last time I will ever be wrong about something.
Anyway, click here to see more of the brutal trve kvlt black metal pictures.
