Incoming: Chronographs

For fans of:  Sikth / The Dillinger Escape Plan / Protest the Hero

UK band Shriukume started to make a lot of noise in the UK scene these past couple of years, bringing to the table their own unique take on the Metalcore and Math-Metal genres.  Although it was sad to see Shirukume came to an end a month or so back, out of the ashes rose Chronographs; a new band from the same members.  Yeah, okay, so I know what you’re thinking, it’s just a name change right? Well yes and no I guess.  The band seem willing to emphasise that it means much more than that to them.  Chronographs is a new chapter for the young musicians, with new music and announcements coming soon.

For those that haven’t heard Shirukume, they finally released their debut EP earlier this year, to almost universal critical praise.  The band was praised for their strong abilities in song writing and willingness to experiment, forging their own sound in the process.  You can check out my review later of their EP here.

Review: Shirukume – Speaking in Colours

For fans of:  Sikth / The Dillinger Escape Plan / Protest the Hero

The debut EP, Speaking in Colours by incoming UK band, Shirukume is a fantastic introduction to their unique take on the Metalcore genre.  To be frank, pigeonholing Shirukume to a single genre is both unfair and nonsensical, as shown by their willingness to experiment with a great amount of proficiency on this EP.  Speaking in Colours is both heavy and melodic, with a great use of experimentation used.   Despite Shirukume being a relatively young band, they wield their instruments with great skill and display an immense talent for song writing.  Now defunct, Shirukume have ended and the remaining members have moved onto a new band, known as Chronographs.

Read on to see my review of Shirukume’s debut EP.
