God hates Australia

I don’t really believe in God, but it’s okay if you do (even though you’re wrong and gullible!). But if there is a God (hypothetically speaking, Dave), he clearly hates Australia, how else would you explain the terrible tragedy that is about to happen to them in 2012?

“Soundwave Festival 2012” is taking place around late February, and here are some of the bands confirmed: System of a Down, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, Lostprophets, and Hole (lol wtf?). I know, right?

God also hates Aussie metalheads, because Machine Head, Mastodon and other decent bands are playing, so metalheads will have to swallow their pride and buy a ticket with Limp Bizkit‘s name on it, just to see those bands. Terrible.

Tickets go on sale October 20 at 9 AM, so you know when NOT to buy them. The official site is here: do not click this.

It’s really sick to see what’s happening to Australia, an otherwise cool and peaceful country. Sorry, guys.

Machine vinyl Head

Machine Head fans and people above the age of 45 (AKA vinyl fans) will be excited to hear that the November issue of the UK’s Metal Hammer magazine will come loaded with a special 10-inch vinyl EP.

The EP contains brand new track ‘Locust’ taken from the phenomenal new album Unto the Locust (read our review here), as well as live recordings of ‘Beautiful Mourning’ and ‘Bite The Bullet’.

The magazine is out October 19 and will celebrate Metal Hammer’s 25th anniversary. Make sure you pick it up if you own a record player and love Machine Head (side note – if you don’t love Machine Head, please consider yourself nolonger a friend of mine. Thanks).

Fuck a MP3.

Review: Machine Head – Unto The Locust

Four years after the phenomenal success of The Blackening, Machine Head return with Unto The Locust. As one of the most eagerly awaited albums of the year, the ‘Head have everything to prove. Can they follow up with a similar successful album or will they lose steam, just like they did after their second studio album The More Things Change?

The band like to act as if The Burning Red, and especially Supercharger, never happened. I can understand that, because as a huge Machine Head fan, I like to act as if that never happened as well. But these two Nu-Metal albums actually did get released, therefore a lot of people doubt the band is able to keep up their momentum.

As much as I love this band, I’ve got to admit that I expected a lot from this album, but feared for the worst. These guys might be the ones that wrote the amazing ‘Descend The Shades Of Night,’ but they’re also the ones who wrote the abysmal ‘American High’ — with the exception of Phil Demmel.

So after all, Unto The Locust could be absolutely killer or it could make me kill myself. Make the jump to read my review of Machine Head’s seventh studio album, and let’s hope it’s not my suicide note.

Video interview with Robb Flynn

Above, you can watch a brand new video interview with Machine Head‘s Robb Flynn, courtesy of Metal Injection.

In the interview, Robb discusses his love for ham sandwiches, gives tips on how to ride a bike, and finally offers his views on the US presidential election for 2012.

Nah, just kidding. I think he discusses the band’s new album or something. I don’t know, what am I, your mom? Just watch the video already!
