GN’R bassist says next album will come ‘much quicker’

Tommy Stinson, bassist of Guns N’ Roses, was recently interviewed by Jason P. Woodbury of the Phoenix New Times. I mostly didn’t read the interview because I have way better things to be doing (like getting drunk or laid), but one segment did catch my eye.

Phoenix New Times: “I thought about asking if GN’R was going to do another record, but I thought that might be the worst question in the word considering how long people asked about Chinese Democracy.”

Stinson: “You know, I just see us making a record much quicker, because, in hindsight, a lot of what happened with “Chinese Democracy”, we could get around now.”

Good news then GN’R fans, you’re only going to have to wait 10 years for a new album this time.

DJ Ashba got the ‘GNR gig’ just by showing up

Guns N’ Roses have been auditioning guitarists for over a year before getting DJ Ashba, so the guy just wants everyone to know that unlike those guys, all he had to do was ‘be in the room’ to get the gig. Way to be humble about it, DJ.

What happened is that I got a call, basically saying — I got a call at SIXX: A.M., and we had a number one hit at the time, and it said: ‘Listen, GUNS has been auditioning guitar players for about a year and a half on the down low. They can’t seem to find the right guy.’ Then they asked if I would be interested in coming down and checking it out. And I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll definitely come down.’ I guess Axl got wind that I was going to come down, and he called management and said, ‘If he even shows up in the room, he has the gig.’ So it was kind of that easy.

Read full interview here.

Amazing guitarists don’t audition, yo. All they need to do is enter the room and BOOM, their aura will take care of everything.

Guns N’ Roses to be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will probably be late

Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses)

Extremely long post title, but I simply had to. Burn.

Regarding the news, it’s been made official, Guns N’ Roses are amongst the acts to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14, 2012. There’s still speculation as to which band will actually be there for the ceremony. Steven Adler is at the edge of his seat right now.

More info can be found here.

Guns N’ Roses play ‘Civil War’ live for the first time since the 90s

They haven’t played this song live since 1993. In other interesting news, I shaved my testicles this morning, and noticed my ball hair grows unevenly.

Axl does “his best” to play on time, apparently

Sarah Rodman of The Boston Globe recently conducted an interview with Guns N’ Roses bassist Tommy Stinson. The bassist, in particular, discusses Axl’s reputation for turning up 38 hours late to concerts. Check out some excerpts below:

The Boston Globe: Is there any way to sit down with Axl [Rose] and say there’s no reason that fans should have to wait up to three hours between the opening act and Guns N’ Roses?

Stinson: There is no reason ever for that to be.

The Boston Globe: So why does it happen? What is happening during the time that people are waiting?

Stinson: You know what? I don’t even know. I just know that some days my boy gets [expletive] derailed. I know he does his best to get out there on time. He doesn’t want to make people wait and bum out on him but, again, he can’t play before he’s ready either.

The Boston Globe: Maybe he should start getting ready earlier then, because he must be paying all kinds of overtime and fines at these arenas which must be eating into the tour profits.

Stinson: You’ve got a good point there. You know, that’s never been something he’s ever given a [expletive] about. When he’s ready to put on his best show, that’s when he’s going to put it on, and if it’s on the late side, so be it. He’ll gladly pay the extra money.

You know what, Tommy? If I turn up 3 hours late to my job, I get fired. I don’t exactly perform “at my best” when I have to wake up for work at 6:45am, but I do it, because I have to. Frankly, I’d rather Axl had the respect for his fans to turn up on time and play the show the fans paid their hard earned cash for. The cash they probably earned by turning up to work on time and doing a good job. Maybe Axl should try that, huh? There isn’t any excuse for the disrespect Axl shows to his fans.
