Interview: Jeremy Von Epp (BlackGates)

We’ve reported about BlackGates before. The band that includes Dan Nelson (Inside Hollow, Farewell To Washington, ex-Anthrax), Paul Bostaph (Testament, ex-Slayer, ex-Exodus), Uriah Duffy (ex-Whitesnake) and Jeremy Von Epp.

Sadly, we didn’t know that much about Von Epp, so it was a good idea to interview Jeremy to get to know him a bit better and introduce him to all of you.

Make the jump to read my interview with Jeremy Von Epp, guitarist of BlackGates and a swell dude.

No RATM album, yo

If you’re waiting for a new Rage Against The Machine album, tough luck. It’s not happening anytime soon, according to a recent Tom Morello interview:

Right now there are no… You know, the band is not writing songs, the band is not in the studio. We get along famously and we all, you know, intend to do more Rage Against The Machine stuff in the future, but beyond sort of working out a concert this year, there’s nothing else on the schedule.

Hey, if you’re desperate for a new RATM album, just take any RATM song you want, play it over and over again and voila… That’s exactly what a new album would sound like.

Ed Force One sold out

Iron Maiden’s plane, Ed Force One, is being used for mortals too. That’s right, it’s not just metal legends being flown around in it. Apparently when the band isn’t using it, this baby is flying normal people who can’t play instruments or write metal anthems. Sounds like blasphemy to me.

The plane is regularly used for commercial flights when not in use by Iron Maiden, but usually the band’s distinctive livery is removed first. It is owned by Gatwick-based company Astreaus airline, which counts Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson as one of its pilots, and first leased the Boeing 757-200 to the band for their Somewhere Back In Time tour in 2007.

I’m not gonna lie to you, I wouldn’t mind flying in that thing. I wouldn’t mind having Bruce as a pilot, either. Maybe there’s a business venture in there somewhere. I already have the slogan: “Up the irons… Literally!”

I should be in fucking Harvard Business School or something.

Anvil aren’t greedy

Are you one of those little bitches who complain about having to spend a few bucks on an album and invoke ‘greed,’ even though they’re obviously greedy themselves for not sparing some money for someone’s hard work ?

Well, you’re in luck, because Canadians Anvil Lavigne are streaming their new album for free. Imagine that, now you’re $13 richer.

The album, called I’m the Juggernaut Of Justice bitch will hit stores May 10th and has been recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606.

Listen to it here and make the jump to see the cover and track listing.

Jack Osbourne can’t handle criticism

Ozzy Osbourne‘s son Jack recently made an ass of himself on Twitter. Jack wasn’t too pleased with John Anderson’s review in Variety regarding his dad’s latest documentary called God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, which Jack  co-produced.

Dear Variety magazine, your review of my film is absolute bollocks. Your journalist obviously had his head up his arse the entire time.

Read tweet here.

If you actually read the article, you will notice that it’s quite positive. I mean, seriously, how can you not accept that review?

I honestly don’t know what’s worse — complaining over that review or the idea of letting Jack Osbourne produce a film.
