The Russian way

From time to time I feel the urge to blow some dust off of some more or less obscure band, just because I’m feeling nostalgic, or perhaps because I think that particular band deserves a bit more exposure. My criteria are, of course, highly questionable and debatable.

In this particular case, one can’t quite use the word “obscure” in describing Aria. They’re Russian and they’re quite past their prime, true, but when one of your songs is a duet with the gruffest, meanest German heavy metal voice this side of the Cold War, Udo Dirkschneider of Accept and U.D.O. fame, you’re one step closer to the light. The video above stands proof.

But, when this already solid piece of a metal ballad is further covered by Rammstein‘s Till Lindemann and Richard Z. Kruspe, you can safely assume you’ve reached some level of celebrity. Right?

Hear the cover below. It doesn’t matter if you already heard it, there’s always room for one more listen:

U.D.O. go all Big Four on Sofia, Bulgaria

The title is a bit misleading, but that’s what we do here. We mislead people.

U.D.O. will also film their Bulgarian performance for a DVD, much like the Big Four did last year (and I was there, in case you haven’t read that before).

I’m talking about their November 16 show in Sofia, which will take place at the ‘Hristo Botev Hall.’

Go there if you can, then get the DVD and go frame by frame trying to see your face. Then take a screenshot of that frame and prove to the world what a virgin you are.

Free shit, stream shit, video shit

Who can say no to free shit? Well, me, in case someone literally offers me a bucket of free shit. Or a Linkin Park CD. I’d reconsider the bucket in that case. You know what this means though, I’ve gone through some new music and I’m here to share. Dose of Metal, just like The Pirate Bay, only legal, and less nerdy. Or just legal.

Make the jump to get the dose of new tracks, and in case you’re wondering what the video above is, it’s our buddies from Chile, Nuclear (which I’ve interviewed and reviewed before) and their new video, Criminal Solicitation.
