Tuesday Trivia: 44 Minutes

You guys remember our Tuesday Trivia, right? Well, it was Simo’s creation, and he took a leave of absence from the interwebs, so we decided not to do it weekly anymore. Can’t step on other people’s toes, you know?

But from time to time, we will write one, and it’s that time again. So brace yo’selves, bitches, Alex is gonna learn you something today.

Today’s TT focuses on Megadeth‘s song ’44 Minutes.’ You know it, you like it, but do you know what it’s about?

The name itself is from a movie, a movie which documents one of the most intense shootouts L.A.P.D. has ever seen. A shootout that lasted 44 minutes and ended with both robbers dead. But what do the lyrics mean, what happened in the real shootout and how good is the actual movie? Make the jump to find out.

Today’s Dose Of Metal sells… But who’s buying?

What do you mean I can’t post a Megadeth song? I listen to them everyday.

Considering I’ve talked about Megadeth today, and will talk some more in an upcoming article (which I’ll post soon, stay tuned yo), I think it’s only fitting that I post this live version of ‘Peace Sells.’

This performance is from the Danish Roskilde Festival, famous for their nudity. Yeah, they have naked runs and unisex communal showers. If you’re a pervert, you should definitely go there. I sure as hell will.

Anyway, want to see Dave rocking a ginger goatee while playing this epic song? Watch the video above.

No one knows QOTSA. Not even Dave.

Hey, do you know Queens Of The Stone Age‘s ‘No One Knows’ song? I do, but Dave Mustaine doesn’t. At least not by name, which is pretty ironic if you think about it.

When asked in a previous interview what his new album sounds like, Dave described it as a ‘Black Sabbath with a little bit of Queens Of The Stone Age‘ — which I can’t even imagine, really. But in another interview, Dave clears it all up (actually, no he doesn’t).

Yeah, that’s a really bad quote that’s gotten out there. What I said was that it’s got some really super modern sounds , because that’s Johnny (K, producer)’s style. The sounds themselves ARE – LIKE – OLD – SABBATH! Right? Now, that doesn’t mean that the songs are like old Sabbath songs. The sound is. Some of the guitars. But when you put the guitars all together, you put the bass in there, and the drums, and you add the vocals, it doesn’t sound the same at all. And what I had said about Queens Of The Stone Age, I was talking about guitar sounds. I don’t know that band at all! I know one song. (He sings the riff from ‘No One Knows’)

Read full interview here.

That makes a lot of sense now, doesn’t it? Didn’t think so. When are musicians gonna stop describing their upcoming albums as “<insert band here> meets <insert another band here>”? It will only enrage, confuse and annoy the fans.

But don’t worry, according to the same interview, the album will be ‘the best thing Dave has done in a long time.’ And we all know Dave likes to keep it modest, so if he says it’s the best, it has to be.  Right? RIGHT?

Make the jump to see the video for the song Dave was humming. It’s actually one of my favorite QOTSA songs.

Yes… it’s that time… Headlines!

Is ‘Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?’ an album you really enjoy?  If so, go over to AOL and stream the remastered version. I’ve listen to a few of the remastered songs and they sound great! If you don’t own the album, I suggest buying it because a) it rules and b) you can’t go wrong with a lot of bonus tracks!

Jag Panzer lost a guitar player. No, not the one that we interviewed earlier this year – it was the other dude. Christian Lasegue (pictured above) left the band for “college studies.” ‘The Scourage of the Light‘ is one of the best albums of 2011, so it sucks when a band as good as Jag Panzer doesn’t sell much. Oh well, that happens a lot in the metal world.

Fair To Midland posted an acoustic three song set. One of the songs can be viewed it here. My apologies for posting this.

Puscifer recently debuted their new single ‘Man Overboard’ from their upcoming new album, ‘Conditions of My Parole‘, over at Spin. Come on, Maynard! Enough of this Puscifer junk!  No one likes this project. Be kind to your fans and release new Tool or A Perfect Circle albums.

David Ellefstarbucks

Yes, I know it’s a dumb title, but what do you want from me? This isn’t the fucking Oxford blog, so insulting the English language is something we like to do. You don’t like it? Fine, be that way.

So, David is in Seattle and apparently he’s a big Starbucks fan. Such a big fan that he actually went to the original coffee shop that was made in the 70s (or something).

What’s cool about this video is that it’s actually properly recorded. It’s 2011, this is what a video blog should look like.

David, if you’re reading this, can you give fellow Big Four musician Charlie Benante some tips on HD video blogging? His poor channel has videos that look like they were made a few decades before that Starbucks opened.
