New Megadeth album almost finished. Almost.

According to a recent interview with David Ellefson, the new Megadeth album was almost finished. Unfortunately touring got in the way. Dammit.

We had a ton of ideas and lyrics and things, so the process was really putting it together and then recording that. And we finished that all just this last week right before we came over here — barely [laughs], but we got it done — and so now it’s in our producer’s hands to get it mixed. So he’s working on that, and hopefully — presto — there will be a new album.

You can watch a video of the interview above after the jump. The interviewing chick is pretty weird looking. I don’t know if I want to sleep with her or just punch her in the face. Maybe both. That’s a compliment by the way.

David Ellefson got a new job

Well, don’t worry, he’s still in Megadeth, I just like misleading titles. It gets us more views and I have no shame.

Apparently David’s been asked to interview people at the Golden Gods Awards and there are A LOT of clips of him talking to various musicians (just like the one above).

I could embed all of them after the jump, but it would make the whole thing kind of awkward and hard to follow, so just go here and browse on the right for whatever clip you want to see.

David Ellefson talks about his basses

It’s so good to see David back in Megadeth, and fortunately for me, I got a chance to tell this to him directly when I kicked ass in an interview with him (which kicked ass).

Anyway, in the video above, David is talking a bit about his Jackson bass guitars and you should take a look, because it’s Megadeth, and it rules, so you better recognize.

P.S. = Writing this news made me want to listen to some Megadeth, so expect a recommendation soon… I always share my weekend metal routines.

Get admitted to the clinic

I may not know what exactly a clinic is but I’m sure it has nothing to do with the picture above. Why post a picture like that then, you may ask? Well, because I can and I needed filler text for the intro. Worked quite well, didn’t it?

So, as you already know, because you’re reading Dose of Metal daily and all you do in your free time is talk to your friends about our news posts and articles, Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Anthrax’s Frank Bello, arguably the two nicest guys of the Big Four, played a couple of bass clinics together.

But that’s not news anymore, is it? No, but the nice Dave of Megadeth and Bello are joining forces for another clinic and this time Mike Portnoy and Frank Bello’s uncle will join them. Bello’s uncle? Well, Anthrax’s Charlie Benante, you dummy. Know your metal facts!

Want more info about this particular clinic? Make the jump to see the flyer, that has all the infos you need.

Ba(da)ss clinic and Young cover

As we mentioned earlier, our good friend David Ellefson and Frank Bello did some bass clinics together. Now you can see some footage of it, including one of David performing…

Ain’t that sweet? Of course it is. Make the jump to see the videos.

In other (sort of) Megadeth related news, former guitarist Jeff Young’s band, Souls On 11, recorded a Thin Lizzy cover in memory of the late Gary Moore. The song is “Don’t Believe a Word” and you can listen to it after the jump, also.
