Indian Dose of Metal

Here’s a first. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think we’ve ever covered an Indian artist on this site. Unless some dork refered to a Shyamalan twist in some kind of relation to a feud between musicians. I think I have done that before.

But either way, Dose of Metal presents to you: The Down Troddence. This band from Kannur, India has only released four songs so far. Three of which you can find on their Facebook or Reverbnation pages and one you can listen to above.

I guess in India, they headbang just like we do all over the rest of the world. Some things are just global.

Update: I probably should have credited him right when I posted this, but this band and the above video was shown to me by my good friend Pasquale. Annoy the shit out of him on Facebook!

Weekly Dose of Metal: Dark Tranquility

Dark Tranquility are a Melodic Death Metal hailing from Sweden, which is pretty much where all the Melo Death bands come from. It’s like a hotspot or something.

I first came to hear the band with 2005’s Character, an album I loved at the time. I then went to listen to some of the band’s other albums, and oddly I couldn’t really get into any of them. Odd right? Ah well.

Check out ‘My Negation’ taken from Character below. It kicks more ass than a granny in the driver seat.

Weekly Dose of Metal: Anaal Nathrakh

I first discovered the band Anaal Nathrakh while I was searching for anal porn, having mistyped ‘anal’ as anaal. Although at first I was unamused with my Google screen being filled with “some random band” instead of the hardcore pornography I was in desperate search of, I soon realized that in actual fact, I had discovered one of the most brutal Metal bands around.

Anaal Nathrakh are a two-member, British extreme Metal band, fusing various styles of the genre, including black metal, grindcore, death metal and industrial music. The band formed in 1999 and have since released eight studio albums.

You can listen to the track ‘Virus Bomb’ from the 2007 album Hell is Empty and All the Devils are Here below. I believe it’s about a virus. A virus bomb to be precise.

Weekly Dose of Metal: Carcass

I actually cannot believe what I’m about to say. This shit is huge and completely inexcusable, but I feel that there is nothing I can do other than apologize profusely for this oversight. In the year we have run Dose of Metal, it would appear that we have never covered the legends that are Carcass. I know, disgraceful right? Well, I’m putting things straight (makes a change for me) with this post.

You can listen to Carcass‘ legendary track, ‘Heartwork’ below, taken from the1993 album, Heartwork.

Weekly Dose of Metal: The Red Chord

Still hungover, still in need of a cure.

Enter The Red Chord, one of the finest Deathcore bands around. Assuming they are Deathcore, of course, because I really don’t give a shit either way. As long as they make my ears bleed and play music heavy enough to stop me from being able to think clearly, then all is good.

You can listen to ‘Love on the Concrete’ taken from the 2005 album Clients below.
