Witchery are cursed

Swedish Death Metal supergroup Bloodbath Witchery have parted ways with vocalist Legion (formerly of Marduk) and announced their new vocalist: Emperor Magus Caligula (Masse Broberg), formerly of Dark Funeral and early Hypocrisy.

Legion only sang on the latest Witchery album, Witchkrieg. You can view the video of the titlesong above. Before Legion took over in 2010, the band was fronted by Seance guitarist Tony Kampner for 13 years. That makes Emperor their third singer. Oh, I’m a math genius.

According to Witchery guitarist Patrik Jensen, the band is “saddened to announce the departure of Legion, singer of last year’s Witchery ear-crusher Witchkrieg. Unfortunately, conflicting schedules made a continued collaboration impossible. We are very thankful for Legion’s input and work on our latest album, and we wish him only the very best for the future.” He goes on to add that “Witchery will, however, not remain without a leader to take them through the netherworlds and beyond. None other than Emperor Magus Caligula has decided to once again adorn his armor, and go off to battle for the better of darkness and evil.”

Sounds like a plan. Emperor Magus Caligula makes his live debut with Witchery later today at the Hultsfred Festival.
