Spotlight: Cause For Revelation, Falling Anvils, Ratzinger

Spotlight on, we’re covering artists who turned to us via our ‘Your Band’ form. If you’re in a band and want us to cover you for a review or an interview, go here. These following bands have contacted us for reviews of their latest works. Let’s get right into it after the jump.

Cause for Revelation – Resurrecting the Hostility

At first listen, this band sounds like a Hatebreed clone. Usually, I’d say that ripping off more well-known bands won’t get you anywhere but Cause for Revelation are really good at what they’re doing. ‘Resurrecting the Hostility’ is more Hardcore than Hatebreed have been since ‘Perseverance’ but at the same time, you can hear notable Metal, mainly Thrash and Death, influences. Definitely worth a listen.

Falling Anvils – Take It

Falling Anvils from Canada label themselves as Alternative / Metal / Rock on MySpace. Is there much to add to that description? Yes, because to me Falling Anvils sounds like a Nu Metal band that came about 10 years too late to the scene but wait! Nu Metal doesn’t always mean “wigger bullshit”. FA don’t sound like Limp Bizkit or Korn, they sound more like early Sevendust, which isn’t that bad. But it doesn’t mean that they’re really good either. Ok for people who like Sevendust but that’s about it.

Ratzinger – 2012

Ratzinger from Chile play Groove Metal. I’m a sucker for Groove Metal, as a huge fan of Pantera, Machine Head and the likes but Ratzinger don’t sound like these bands. I can hear some simplified Soulfly in there but that’s about it. The vocals are bland and so are the riffs and solos. I wish them good luck, because they seem to be nice guys but I definitely won’t find myself listening to this album again. I wouldn’t call it shit but it just bored me.
