Fear of the predictable machine

‘Choking Victim’, more like choking singer. The vocals on Munky of Korn fame’s new project Fear and the Nervous System sound like a castrated Jonathan Davis (how predictable). ‘Choking Victim’ is just another reminder in 2011 that the Nu-Metal genre just won’t fucking die. This is the 21st Century people, when are you going to learn that Nu Metal is outdated and unacceptable in this day and age?

The band also feature Billy Gould of Faith No More, so I almost feel dirty for ridiculing the song so badly, but seriously ‘Choking Victim’ almost makes me want to go back to listening to Staind‘s new song.

Enslaved get their cover on

The Norwegian extreme Progressive Metal monsters, Enslaved, recently played a special show on May 29 at the Henie Onstad Art Centre in Oslo.

What made the show so special, I hear you ask? And you’d be right to ask that considering my absence. Well, knowing the huge wealth of influences the band have, Enslaved were asked to provide a special setlist of covers as well as original songs. The band covered a range of artists, including Faith No More, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush and King Crimson. A band doing covers? What an original concept.

You can check out videos of their covers of Led Zeppelin‘s ‘Immigrant Song’ and King Crimson‘s ‘Red’ after the jump.

Billy Gould loves double negatives

Faith No More’s Billy Gould recently did an interview with Consequence of Sound about the future of FNM.

“I personally can’t see us not doing any more shows again, I just don’t see it,” he said. “There’s no point in not to do it. Why quit now? I think it’s just this tour… We did this tour and that’s what we decided to do. And we did it. We accomplished this goal, it worked out for all of us, and then we look at each other and say, ‘Hey what do you want to do now?’ And I think that’s how it’s got to be.”

Eh, personally I can’t see myself not enjoying the continuation of this Faith No More reunion…
