What do you get if you take the music of Black Sabbath's first album and let Glenn Danzig do the singing? Answer: Optimus Crime!
'Optimus Crime' is four piece 'stoner rock' band hailing from Sweden. If your into 'stoner rock' or like to slow things down a bit and still keep your music heavy then you won't go wrong 'Optimus Crime'.
The singer, Bitch Muchannon, has a style that sounds like a cross between Glen Danzig and James Hetfield. Not a bad combination all things considered. The music has slow melodies that will get your head bobbing up and down with the rythmn provided by bassist, Peter Martin and drummer, Mabokansli. Plenty of grooves, accentuated by the young guitarist going by the moniker Dr. Pilsner, are here even with only three songs.
The songs all have strange song titles (but fit the stoner style). One of which is 'Fresh from the Fridge' that starts with a great guitar hook which interestingly enough leads into a melody that I found reminscent of KISS' instumental 'Love Theme from KISS'.
'Optimus Crime' needs a record deal so they can show us what they are truly capable of! 4 Stars
