Friday Top 10: Worst videos of 2010

Goat

Ah, music videos. Once considered a short art film form, today a reason to engage intro troll wars on YouTube. Make the jump and see the list of 10 videos that will make you feel glad MTV doesn't play music anymore.

#10 Dark Fortress - Ylem

Black metal videos really have it all - flames, forests, caves, corpse paint... Well, that's really it. This one looks like 99% of black metal videos before it, and it will also look a lot like the ones that are going to come after it.

#9 Disturbed - The Animal

Okay, the only reason I've even bothered with watching this video was the following: I wanted to see if they'll include a dog for David Draiman to talk with.

0:00 The video starts with something I presume is a dog perspective of running through a forest.
0:35 David Draiman starts making dog noises. 0:56 a wolf appears.

Gee, Disturbed are full of surprises and keep reinventing themselves. I didn't bother watching the whole thing, so let me know what Dr. Dolittle said to the wolf.

#8 Hellyeah - Cowboy Way

Cowboy Way - sounds a bit gay, right? Well, whenever I see Hellyeah, I get a feeling that Vinnie Paul is the butch, Chad Gray is the bitch, and they're about to get it on hardcore any second now, while the rest of the guys would be watching and playing with themselves.

That's why I don't watch Hellyeah videos.

#7 Korn - Let the Guilt Go

What's worse than having a lame video? Not even bothering to appear properly in your lame video. Korn were obviously too busy touring, and Roadrunner wanted to milk the cow while it was fresh, so they used Korn's previously available footage of the crop circle show and mashed it with a Roswell episode.

Oh, and it looks like it was shot with a porn camera.

#6 Slash and Fergie - Beautiful Dangerous

To be honest, if it was a bit more explicit, this would make a decent softcore porn clip, but the music just kills any possible boners and any respect you ever (probably never) had for Slash.

#5 Linkin Park - The Catalyst

Background music to a SNES game - check.
Pretentious distopian music video - check.
Linkin Park
sucks - check.

#4 Alice in Chains - Acid Bubble

Acid Bubble by Alice in Chains

A "revolutionary" and "interactive" video, that is actually nothing but a gimmick flash animation with limited movement controls.

You can view it here.

#3 Sully Erna - Sinner's Prayer

Want to see Sully Erna in an MTV: Unplugged setting, wearing nothing but some shirt on an otherwise naked top, and singing something that resembles a Mr. President tune (at least the beginning)?

Well, me neither. Very artistic, pretentious and most of all, fucking boring and uninspired.

#2 Rob Halford - Made of Metal

If you think the album cover was bad, wait until you see the video.

#1 Serj Tankian - Left of Center

Baaaaaaaaaaa!

Trust me, this clip is better than the real thing, and at the very least less pretentious. Oh, and this goat in particular sounds less like a goat then Serj himself.

  1. haha the goat. Serj has great voice though so i don’t know what you mean by that but funny vid

    • Serj sucks! I wish System could have just stayed dead. At least no one actually cared about his solo shit or Daron’s side project, but SOAD are big, so now I’ll have to listen to their quasi-political bullshit again. Looks like I’ll be avoiding any of the festivals they’re playing.
